Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Killer Imperial here. Alcohol was fairly prevalent but this was a 2007 so there you go.... Pours a dark, thick, viscous, vile looking black with a small head. Smells very chocolatey and malty with some notes of alcohol as well. Very chocolatey malty taste with some vanilla and maybe a bit of coffee on the finish along with some alcohol. Overall, a very impressive stout. I loved it and look forward to having it again.

Strong aroma with a sweet aroma, redolent of chocolate. Pours an opaque black with a thin tan head that clings to the edges of the glass. No noticeable alcohol flavors. Strong roasted and chocolate notes (hints of coffee present as well), blend into a nice long finish. A very tasty beer, especially at the price.

Poured from a 12-oz bottle a deep dark black color. Smell was a heavy malt, chocolate and alcohol. A great smooth taste for a high alcohol beer. It is of rich chocolate with some slight bitterness and a slight vanilla undertone. Pairs perfect with dessert.

12fl. oz. bottle (Winter 04/05) drunk at the White Horse, Parson’s Green, 30th Dec 2007. Wow, just wow. This three year old bottle just blew me away. Pours black with a subsiding dark tan head. Great aroma - initially smells of caramel and speyside whisky but then the dark chocolate notes come through in force. The flavour is all about chocolate, but that’s not to say there is no complexity. It had the most complex cocoa flavour I’ve ever tasted. As you savour each mouthful, the flavour buidls and builds. It just keeps giving. The palate is smooth and packed with flavour, without being too heavy. A sublime chocolate imperial stout.

Pours black with a small dark tan head. Aroma of burnt toasted malts and chocolate. Taste is the same with some sweetness and cigar coming through as it warms. Very industrial.

Wow, this beer exceeded my expectations. Great attack, nice and dark with lots of weightiness to it. Taste was currant and burnt carmelization flavors. This is one darn good beer, don’t pass up on this if you have a chance.
