Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle at the Bloomington Beer Festival. Poured black with a thick brown head that dissipated slowly. Aroma was full of dark bitter chocolate notes with a bit of coffee for an undertone. Flavor had a pleasant sweet yet bitter chocolate flavor with undertone of roasted malts and coffee.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost opaque color with a rich brown head. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa, raisins, coffee. Flavor is sweet chocolate, slight alcohol bite, coffee. Great duration on the flavor. Nice carbonation with a lively mouthfeel.

Pours deep black with a beautiful tan head. Smells of dark chocolate and some alcohol. Very inviting. Tastes like double roasted coffee beans with a touch of cocoa. Has a very nice bitter chocolate finish. You can certainly detect the alcohol but the roast and chocolate dominate it magnificently. By far one of the best Imperial Stouts I’ve had. 15 minutes later.... The alcohol is much more pronounced in both aroma and taste. It almost has a bourbon like taste. Roastiness is not as strong and the chocolate comes out. All I can say is "Wow". This is a great beer. I only received 4 bottles of this in a beer swap group. I’m definitely going out to buy a full case of this...especially considering that it ages well.

A black colored beer, with a thick foamy brown head. The aroma of sweet chocolate with coffee and fruits. The taste is sweet of some dark fruits, with coffee and pure bitter chocolate and mocca. The aftertaste of bitter chocolate with hints of sweet.

Delicious- very focused dark chocolate flavor, direct and surprisingly smooth. a little bit of an alcohol sting that I like. Consistency is a little thin, tho. Bottle from Quick Stop in Coral Gables, Florida.

Draught house! The bartender was only supposed to serve me 10oz... I’ve been blessed with a full pint.  Must be a high gravity! Looks thick and black and.... Delicious.  Dense head and soapy lacing.  Aroma of roasted malt & chocolate.  Tastes like a semi-imperial stout.  Not too alcoholic, but present nonetheless.  Very sweet in the mouth, but not as much on the tongue, much like molasses.  Slightly dry finish.  Wow, very nice lacing.  Not too heavy, very enjoyable.  I’d like to see this in a bottle but it probably wouldnt be the dame. A little bitter on the finish, yet very clean.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake (Winter ’09-10 version). Black pour with a luxurious thick tan head. Rich chocolate and light coffee aroma with just a hint of dark fruit. Light sourness upfront that quickly fades into dark chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel; moderate alcohol burn. A very, very good Imperial Stout and probably the best Brooklyn beer. (As a side note from previous tastings, this beer ages very well. While it is not as good after about 2 years it is exceptional after about 5).
