COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2005 scent is of alcohol, malt, cholcolate, and butterscotch... mmmm...tan head with black color to the brew. toasty, matly, dark chocolate, butterscotch hints, with caramel overtones, strong alcohol flavor. this was the 04-05 season... the best part is i got a six pack at the deli downstairs. kickass. Leaving the numbers the same, but thought i would add that this is totally different on tap. Much much smoother, without as much bitterness and none of the weird funk I got in the first one. 05-06: rerate: this was interesting.... this was one of my first beers when i started, and now a year later, i am having it again. the aroma is definitely chocolate and malt with some cherry/fruity undertones. Still a great appearance with almost black color and very dark brown head. the flavor is sharp and acidic. almost sour. big chocolate flavor with some roasted malt and some smoked malt, and throwing in some scotch burn. sour cherries are definitely present in the flavor as well... not sure its intentional though. not as thick as i remember it being, but still good.

It smells of chocolate and roasted malt. It pours jet black with a light beige head. Full bodied rich flavour with pronounced chocolate and coffee notes. Finish is dry. Very good.

Pours a deep dark slightly viscous black with a small brown head. Aroma is a strong chocolate with some roasted dark malts and espresso. Taste is chocolatey, with some roasted dark malt, espresso, and some hops and dark cacao bitterness. A rich full bodied and slightly viscous mouth feel with moderate carbonation on the palate. Finished with a bitter sweet choclatey and roasted dark malts, some espresso, ending is a long sweet lingering bitter chocolate flavor. Overall a delicious, flavorful, satisfying and nicely balance brew. A very enjoyable drink.

Bottle. Thick black pour with a creamy tan head that lasts a while. Aroma is very roasty with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, almonds, raisins, cherries and caramel. Flavour mirrors the aroma. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with soft carbonation and a lingering roasty, bitter chocolatey finish. This is a superb stout; as thick as they come, it has the texture of a liquid dessert. Simply delicious.

Aroma is roasted malts, a light chocolate sweetness and some vinous notes. The flavor is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malts, along with vinous notes that lead to a tart/fruity malty finish.
