This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle. Black oily colour, with a tan creamy foam. Aroma of dark chocolate, and lots of bitternes in the end. Have a nice sweet/bitter mouth feeling, with a lot of dark chocolate. Nice round bitter finish.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a dense dark brown and creamy head. Thick chocolate and dried fruit aroma, almost a wineous note. Flavour is roasted chocolate malt, slight smooth but mainly quite flat on carbonation and flavour. I’m not impressed, but it isn’t bad. Just not that thrilling.

A black beer with a chocolate brwon head unfortunatly it disappears quite fast. The aroma is nice; sweet, smoked, and acidic. The flavor is fantastic; smooth, yet powerful, chocolate, smoke, dryness and woodyness - gives it character.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Vintage 2005 at 8.25% ABV. Pitch black and opaque with a creamy, light brown head leaving a pretty curtain of laces. Sweetish aroma of chocolate and vanilla. Full-bodied, a little low in carbonation. Rich notes of roasted and lightly burned malt with distinct accents of chocolate and vanilla. Subdued bitterness with a discreet underlying acidity. One of the more rounded and mellow Imperial Stouts. 191007

Bottled 04-05 vintage. Black opaque, brown head. Very thick beer. Weak roasted malty and chocolatish aroma. Strong flavour of alcohol and licorace. Also some caramellish and roasted hints. Too strong alcoholic taste for me. Bitter dark chocolate in finish. I wonder if something was wrong with this bottle, as no-one else has commented the alcohol taste.

Dark black with creamy brownish head. Roasty chocolate aroma, softly malty, full bodied. Lots of salty liquorice and dark chocalte in the palate. Bitter finish. A thoroughly well made and tasty beer.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Thick dark black stout. Immediate dark chocolate - quite prominent. Some coffee and dark malt. Not that bitter. Sumptuos beer!

Black color; thick creamy head, beige. Dark malts aroma, some bread dough too. Good body structure; strong flavor of roasted malts and dark chocolate, with a fair share of black coffee too, and light sourness that adds some vibe. Strong bitterness. Old School Chocolate Stout, very good.

2003-12-02, bottle, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Black, with a thin brown head. Aroma of liquorice, tar, roasted malt. Thick, malty, roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate. Strong roasted bitterness. Good but nothing more.
A big thank to Jens (Ungstrup), Jacob (Lövenlund) and Rasmus (Nørrebro Bryghus) for all the effort!
