Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Black, not much head. Aroma from chocolatem which actually did not shock me... Flavor is milk chocolate as well, some cream, but also some bitterness. I really like these chocolate stouts.

Bottled. Pitch black with a brown head. Big aroma, mostly of roasted malts. Compact, lingering, hoppy flavour of mostly coffee and just small notes of dark chocolate. Syrupy mouthfeel. Wonderful!

Bottle poured an opaque black with a lasting brown head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, carmel, light coffee, alcohol and a hint of licorice. Palate was medium bodiede smooth and warming. Flavors of dark fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and pepper with a smooth warming lingering bittersweet finish.

Bottle. Vintage 2004. Pours black with a small foamy light-brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, light hops and roasted malt. Smells great, tastes even better. The flavour of dark chocolate, coffee, hops and sweet malt is delicious -- now this is a Stout! WOW! Body is creamy and smooth. Not only is this perhaps the best Stout I’ve ever had but it’s close to one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Fantastic.

’05-’06 bottle via Secret Santa. Pours near opaque thick liquor with a small fizzy creamy tan head and thick lacing. Sweet dark chocolate, dark roasted malt, molasses and cocoa with dark fruit (prune, raisin) notes and port, dark roasted coffee. Dark chocolate bitter lightly acidic flavor transcends to a sweet caaramel dark roasted malt with prunes and hoppy, alcohol notes. Dark and full-bodied, smooth and warm palate.
