COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Slightly disappointed with this beer. The aroma is decent, plums, chocolate and all. Thick brown head which quickly dissipates. Nice blend of malts, roasty flavour, a reasonable amount of chocolate. But, the flavour is totally overpowered by alcohol and hugely bitter finish which is just not that classy and frankly either too strong or not that well blended/aged. Something like De Molen’s Rasputin or Tsarina are way better for me.

330ml. Bought @ The Nest Off License ,Hanwell, West London. Drank from a Sam Smiths snifter . I love this , always have done . I am not a great chocolate stout fan , too many are dominated by a one dimensional chocolate profile ...but when the balance of chocolate novelty and actual beer is coherent and the boost high , WEHAVE LIFT OFF . burnt tarry nose , bitter chocolate , cream, burnt toast , roast accents ...the nose is vivid . As black as the black ball on a pool table in Brooklyn .... Loads of rich chocolate and a biiter dryness - this unity is really satisfying . Props out to Garrett Oliver .

Aroma: chocolate, molasses, coffee, liquor, roasty, cocoa, milk; Appearance: pitch black, vanishing frothy head: Taste: intense bitterness, medium sourness, medium sweetness: Palate: long finish, fizzy carbonation, medium body, thick texture Dense, overwhelming with chocolate. The hops kick in straight after an initial sourness. Lacks the spiciness prominent in the Mikkeller stouts. A bit too fizzy, the foam vanishes too soon. Expensive.

Kolor: Czarny, piwo jest całkowicie nieprzejrzyste. Piana: Beżowa, obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, kremowa. Trwała. Pozostawia niezły lacing. Aromat: Intensywny aromat gorzkiej czekolady. Alkoholizowane czekoladki. Tort czekoladowy. Rewelacja. Smak: Piwo jest lekko słodkawe. Goryczka jest średnia i dość krótka. Piwo jest gęste, oleiste. Alkohol jest szlachetny - likier czekoladowy albo czekoladki z nadzieniem alkoholowym. Ponadto delikatnie grzeje w przełyk. Wysycenie: Niskie. Idealne. Opakowanie: Ładna, elegancka etykieta. Minus za brak pełnego składu i niepodanie ekstraktu. Uwagi: Solidny RIS. Nie wyrywa z butów, ale sprawia dużą frajdę. Ilość czekolady w tym piwie jest naprawdę potężna, ale poza czekoladą niewiele więcej się tu dzieje To sprawia, że piwo jest nieco jednowymiarowe.

Bottle from Saveur Bičre. Small brown head with a full, black body. Smells of chocolate, roasted coffee beans, hops, alcohol. Taste of chocolate, dark roasted coffee, yeast. It feels a bit boozy, which is mostly noticed in the aftertaste, which is also very bitter. The chocolate taste isn’t noticed that much and the strong alcohol taste makes this beer quite the disappointmet to me, even though it is a decent Imperial Stout, just not top tier.

330 ml bottle from Bier-Deluxe.de, winter 14-15 version.
Pitch black body, with a small, creamy, coffee colored head.
Rich aroma of melting dark chocolate, liquorice, coffee, cocoa, toffee, slight ash.
Delicious taste of coffee, very smooth chocolate, cocoa powder, some ash, liquorice, dark fruits.
Full, creamy, velvety mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smooth, roasty, dry, a bit alcohol warming, with coffee, cocoa, slight ash.

Wow, very tasty! Warm, smooth and complex, with a well hidden alcohol. Really a comfortable sipper, that isn’t as massive as other Imperial Stouts, but wonderfully balanced instead.

aroma is nice and pleasant from roasted malts and coffee beans. A faint hint of licorice sweeps under your nose. Taste is slick and sweet but still rich and potent. There’s a small touch of red berries underneath. The aftertaste is not too heavy and the bitterness hangs around for a while. A really decent presentation of how you brew a proper stout.
