albertane (266), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Aug 27, 2008 A late night purchase at the Ship & Mitre in Liverpool, this is very tasty and frankly better than any of the cask beers they had available. It’s a velvety very dark brown with a sweet and boozy aroma, and it tastes powerfully of chocolate (what a surprise) with a bitterness that lingers for ages. mirjukka (350), LOHJA, Finland Aug 23, 2008 bottle 335ml at Pikkulintu Helsinki 140808 bottled winter 2004-2005 ABV ? vintage murky black very dry strong aroma of roasted malts tickling hops delicious chocolate bit milky. Pours a rich black with a nice burnt brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted barley, chocolate malt, dark fruits and a little alcohol are present. Flavor is bittersweet cocoa, coffee, licorice, nuts, dark fruits and a little hop bitterness. Roasted coffee and chocolate bitterness linger in the finish. Very nice Imperial Stout. sleepylopes (281), New York, USA Aug 21, 2008 on tap 05. rich and creamy with a nice bit of melowness that comes with age. chocolate and roast malt are present and the ballace and blend is well done. one of the best offerings from the folks at brooklyn. mmm///beer (526), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle in trade from MaltOMeal- thanks! Served in tumbler- poured blacker than midnight in a bad thunderstorm, low-medium carbonation, 4mm tan head formed and stayed for a couple of smokes. Aroma of hearty dark chocolate, coffee that’s been sitting on the pot for 24 hours, and roasted malt. Hits the mouth with a wide body, malt is heavy and full of attitude, roasted characteristics make themselves known very easily with notes of smoke in the background, all around very clingy on the cheeks, finish creeps away slowly. Damn right!
