COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle purchased from Quench! Beer in Silver Spring, MD. Poured on 12/15/13 into a glass I drink beer in. Pour is dark, black, and thick like a stout should be. Appearance is stout-like. Slight, thick, coffee- colored, foam head. Bourbon, sweet chocolate aroma. Alcoholic nose, alcoholic front-end. Bitter notes of chocolate and burnt coffee with a hint of sweetness throughout. Back-end mellows, alcohol dissipates quickly. Overall, sodatokakid (2.7) said it well, "There is a mild bitterness and roasted flavor, this stout is very dry and the alcohol over powers the semi sweet chocolate taste." #RespectBeerBrethren. Wonder if this stout wouldn’t do well (mellow a bit) if it was buried for a year in my beer fridge for a year. Would also love to drink this draft. Drank more like a 2.9 - 3.0 type of beer out of the bottle.

Bottle @home. Pours black with a tan head great lacing. Nose is chocolate , licorice and ever-so-slightly coffee. Taste is very much the same, it has nice sweet start but then goes into a lingering bitter finish. A really nice beer, top-notch.

Some sort of screwy yellow code stamped on the bottle in very crude dot-matrix format - impossible to read. Grrrrr. Very dark, black, opaque. 1 inch tan, creamy, bubbly head that recedes slowly. Aroma is sweet, smoaky, chocolate. Moderately thick feel. Taste follows the aroma: sweet, roasty, bitter chocolate. Transitions from the opening taste through a sweet middle. The finish is bitter. Not boozy despite the high ABV. I can see how this would be highly rated by some, but somehow the sweet roasty fighting the bitter chololate does not work well for me. It is more like a "versus" than it is a balance. I enjoyed this beer as it stands, but it won’t likely be a repeat purchase.

Kolor: Czarny jak bezgwiezdna noc nad Mostem Brooklińskim w Nowym Jorku. Zupełnie nieprzejrzysty. Minimalne rubinowe refleksy u podstawy obrączki piany.
Piana: Drobne oczka. Puszysta, czapowata , gęsta. Wzorowo koronkuje. Utrzymuje się dość długo. Do samego końca pozostaje cieniutki kożuszek.
Zapach : Przy pierwszym kontakcie uderzył w moje nozdrza aromat dymu i wędzonych nut. Był on skomponowany wraz z wyraźną popiołową nutą.
Jedyna rzecz którą bym zmienił - to bardziej bym ukrył ten alkohol. Poza tym perfetto!
