Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

(Winter 04-05). Black colored, fastly vanishing beige head. Extreme chocolaty aroma with roastiness, smoke, coffee, sweetness and mild alcohol. Almost full bodied. Flavor is even richer than aroma with strong chocolate, port-vinous tones, oak and smoke, aftertaste is oaky and vinous with warming alcohol.

Pours a thick oily dark roast coffee color. Wonderful head with tan and beige hues. Thick body and mouthfeel masks any taste of alcohol. Just a beauty of a brew from prsentation to flavor to even the label.

33 cl bought in Frederikshavn. Very complex - starts out grainy, then opens up with coffee, liquorice, sour cherries.. To be sipped after midnight. A magnificent beer.

05-06 bottling. Has been sitting in Liquor store cooler for over a year. Upon pouring, head was very delayed in forming, but slowly grew and turned from a dark brown to a creamy color after a short time. Aroma was sweet malty chocolate, which was essentially the major taste charactersitics as well. Additionally, there were some roasty notes on the finish which balanced well with the milky smooth mouthfeel. Over 2 years ago I drank a 6er of these and thought I was going to die. I’m glad I tried it again but, I have to admit that these are best taken one at a time.

Really good beer. Full bodied to the extent that after finishing it, I was no longer hungry. Pours very dark. I was expecting more of a head, but I love dark tan heads, and this beer has a dark tan head. Reminds me of chocolate and caramel. Leaves a bit of an aftertaste that I wasn’t crazy about, but that didn’t detract from the great aroma and sweet/chocolate flavor. Proud that this is a Brooklyn brew, I grew up not far from there. I love the Brooklyn beers.
