COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Winter 02-03 Bottling Large, dense and creamy mocha colored head that lasted a good while; very good lacing. Strong, enticing dark chocolate aroma layered with a slightly smoky roastiness, some fruitiness and bit of a red wine-like acidity. Flavor upfront was moderately sweet and malty accompanied by a very present semi-sweet dark chocolate character. Mid-palate had some fruitiness with a slight acidity and a pleasingly subtle alcohol warmth that lasted into the finish. Wonderfully long lasting finish and aftertaste that was absent the usual sharpness of black malt/roasted barley. Instead it was reminiscent of toasted pastry crust, coffee, and burnt currant; all set off nicely by a mild bitterness. Palate was full bodied with a silky-velvety texture that was enhanced by a soft carbonation. Very smooth and quite easy drinking for and imperial stout. The complex finish is what really captivated me about this beer. This would go well with a nice Sachertorte or a dark chocolate-raspberry mousse cake. Thanks to DocLock for sending me TWO of these!

Bottle. Dark liquid like strong black coffee, tan head. Full body, light carbonation. Medium bitterness, bitter aftertaste. Thick, looks like liquor. Aroma of dark sugar and molases, coffee and strong taste of bitter dark chocolate. Very good one. Taste like strong concentrated chocolate cake with coffee.

33cl bottle served in a Duchesse de Bourgogne glass. Pours black with a dark beige head which almost immediately dissipates into a thin foam over the top of the beer. Aroma is powerful with dark chocolate and dried fruits preserved in alcohol. Taste is less chocolatey than the aroma with coffee notes taking over (just a hint of mocha) and tobacco. Not as complex as some (Black Damnation series) or as powerful (Bourbon County) as some imperial stouts but excellent all the same. A swirl in the glass at the end creates a swiss roll style swirl in the residue foam. Slightly disappointed that around the edges it is dark red whereas as some Imperial Stouts remain the darkest of blacks no matter what. Most similar to Sierra Nevada Narwhal.

Excelente imperial Stout. Muito café, chocolate. Menor torrefação que as Petroleum. Perfeita para um dia frio.

Inte så himla illa faktiskt. Smakar rätt bra och den är ju ganska billig. Bra för att vara en Brooklyn ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
