UPDATED: JAN 13, 2009 It was okay after the aroma the taste and palate where a let down. It just didn’t have the richness you would expect from a chocolate stout. atfter the fist one they get a bit sickly

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark black with off white thin head. Aroma of cocoa beans that smells like it’s been aged a bit in a bourbon barrel. Hints of chocolate and caramel. A very nice imperial stout.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle purchased from Quench! Beer in Silver Spring, MD. Poured on 12/15/13 into a glass I drink beer in. Pour is dark, black, and thick like a stout should be. Appearance is stout-like. Slight, thick, coffee- colored, foam head. Bourbon, sweet chocolate aroma. Alcoholic nose, alcoholic front-end. Bitter notes of chocolate and burnt coffee with a hint of sweetness throughout. Back-end mellows, alcohol dissipates quickly. Overall, sodatokakid (2.7) said it well, "There is a mild bitterness and roasted flavor, this stout is very dry and the alcohol over powers the semi sweet chocolate taste." #RespectBeerBrethren.
Wonder if this stout wouldn’t do well (mellow a bit) if it was buried for a year in my beer fridge for a year. Would also love to drink this draft. Drank more like a 2.9 - 3.0 type of beer out of the bottle.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fine roasted and chocolate aroma. Pitch black with a small off-white head. Creamy and full palate with some carbonation but not too much to distract. Great blend of malt flavors with toasted and roasted nuances. Chocolate is there but not overpowering. The is a nice hops bitterness that adds balance and complexity. Great beer.

Excellent flavor. Not a lot of aroma. Good mouth feel as it's nice and smooth while remaining nice and thick.

I love the sweetness of this stout. You get it in both the aroma and the initial taste. The mouthfeel is also a standout here. If I could only drink two stouts, they would be this and Founders Breakfast Stout.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sehr mild.
Auf der Zunge bleibt eine röstmalzig-schokoladig-leicht sauer-herbe Note zurück. Anklänge an Espresso.
--> Sehr interessant. Vielen Dank an Sean für dieses Bier!
