Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

bottle. pours oily black with a thin dark brown head. initial aroma and taste (when cold) was dark fruits, cherry, plum. as it warmed the smell of roasted malt, cocoa came through. palate is very nice - thick but not syrupy, great prickly carbonation. taste brings in more roasted flavors, the bitter sweet chocolate flavoring is there - light, doesn’t overpower. dry finish with a moderate hoppy bitter, and some warmth from alc (none in taste). doesn’t hang in the mouth. very very smooth. a great beer. can’t wait to see how this ages.

Pours midnight black with ruby red light making it through only at the edges. Thick cappuccino-colored head that fades to leave persistent lacing. The aroma is of dark chocolate. The alcohol comes through in the aroma. There’s also a slight dark fruit, sherry like aroma on the nose. Fine dark chocolate comes through in the flavor, along with some expresso. Mouthfeel is very smooth and full of body

KSBF 08- Black pour with a tan foam head. Dark chocolate and cocoa aroma. Dark roast and full bodied of the style. Malt rich and sense the ABV. Some bitterness towards the finish. Great Stout but not a huge fan of the dark chocolate notes. Still a good drinker.

Tried thanks to Poperinge! What a beer, the inspiration for me to brew my own imperial stout....turned out well but not nearly as good as this! This is an awesome beer, massive chocolate and dark fruit goodness with a hint of smoke!
