COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Pours midnight black with ruby red light making it through only at the edges. Thick cappuccino-colored head that fades to leave persistent lacing. The aroma is of dark chocolate. The alcohol comes through in the aroma. There’s also a slight dark fruit, sherry like aroma on the nose. Fine dark chocolate comes through in the flavor, along with some expresso. Mouthfeel is very smooth and full of body. I look forward to this beer each Winter.

Bottle. Thick black pour with a creamy tan head that lasts a while. Aroma is very roasty with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, almonds, raisins, cherries and caramel. Flavour mirrors the aroma. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with soft carbonation and a lingering roasty, bitter chocolatey finish. This is a superb stout; as thick as they come, it has the texture of a liquid dessert. Simply delicious.

Aroma is roasted malts, a light chocolate sweetness and some vinous notes. The flavor is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malts, along with vinous notes that lead to a tart/fruity malty finish.

A surprisingly delicate aroma given the rich viscous pour. Taste is initially rich fruit with a peppery kick. Finishing with a rich roasted bitterness and a tangy heat from the booze. Cracking!

Poured into a tulip glass from a 2012 12oz bottle. Pours a dark black color with a tan head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma is of dark fruit, caramel, chocolate and a hint of coffee. Tastes of a strong bittersweet chocolate with a nice coffee undertone with maybe a hint of fruit. Mouthfeel is very full and well carbonated. Overall a decent beer but i’m not sure if I’m a fan of the style.
