3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, - NOV 7, 2003
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2005 00-01 Hugely milk chocolatey. Very smooth despite somewhat lively carbonation. Very heavy. I can’t emphasize enough how sweet this one was.
01-02 Sharper aroma. Very dry overall; more like dark chocolate. Lighter body.
02-03 Not quite as dry as 01-02 and not as sweet as 00-01. I get peanut butter out of this somehow.
03-04 Very close to the 00-01 recipe I believe. Very sweet, thick, rich and robust. Alcohol never stood a chance to be detected in any of these. The overall score is somewhat of an average or something, I guess...
Also, a big shout out to the guys at Ale Atlanta, Georgians for World Class Beer, TheBeerCellar.com, and harlequinn for having me in on their tasting session last night (ouch, my head!) 04-05 Same as before, same as before. 05-06 Strange (and powerful) sour, dark fruit flavor this year. Feels thinner as well.

Pours a deep dark slightly viscous black with a small brown head. Aroma is a strong chocolate with some roasted dark malts and espresso. Taste is chocolatey, with some roasted dark malt, espresso, and some hops and dark cacao bitterness. A rich full bodied and slightly viscous mouth feel with moderate carbonation on the palate. Finished with a bitter sweet choclatey and roasted dark malts, some espresso, ending is a long sweet lingering bitter chocolate flavor. Overall a delicious, flavorful, satisfying and nicely balance brew. A very enjoyable drink.

Bottle. Thick black pour with a creamy tan head that lasts a while. Aroma is very roasty with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, almonds, raisins, cherries and caramel. Flavour mirrors the aroma. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with soft carbonation and a lingering roasty, bitter chocolatey finish. This is a superb stout; as thick as they come, it has the texture of a liquid dessert. Simply delicious.

Aroma is roasted malts, a light chocolate sweetness and some vinous notes. The flavor is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malts, along with vinous notes that lead to a tart/fruity malty finish.
