COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

36 cl bottle @ Salhojankadun Pub, BBE 09/2014
Aroma has lots of cocoa, dark chocolate and some alcohol. flavour has rather intensive cocoa, some dark chocolate and alcohol in the finish. Good, but the alcohol disturbs a bit here.

Lovely appearance like a black IPA. Malty aroma filled with caramel, coffee and a whiff of grassiness. A lot of chocolate in the aroma. Excellent lacing and good look. A strong ground barley flavor in the taste with lots of chocolate and hoppy grassiness. It's pretty sweet in taste but has an IPA Flavor. Really interesting beer which has a lot going on. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. Almost black, deep deep dark brown, slight reddish hew noticeable only when held next to light. Dark tan head, which faded fairly sharpish. Boozy, toasty chocolate malt aroma with some rum in there too. Lovely and full in the mouth, booze, choc and big burnt caramel treacle flavour with a good hit of bitterness. Could have been mellower but very tasty nonetheless.

I liked this one a lot. I think laying it on its side for a while might mellow out the tad of booze in the background. Nice rich molten chocolaty taste on this one.

Pours thick black with caramel head. Toasty coffee nose. Starts thick chocolate liqueur then turns a bit bitter with the chocolate turning to cocoa. Lingers long with the alcohol and cocoa staying on the tongue long after.

Bottle from DSG, huge thanx!
Pours deep black with thick creamy brown head. Smells massive malty and chocolatey with some alcohol. Starts with burnt roasted malts, paired with lots of coffee and bitter chocolate. Middle part has much burnt malts, paired with coffe, chocolate and a slight alcoholic note. Goes into a very dark malty finish with lots of bitter roasted malts and chocolate. Awesome!!!

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pitch black with 1cm of creamy white head that fades 30 seconds after pouring. Minimal lacing. Aroma is mud-cake (fuck you Nick), coffee, soy, fudge and dark cocoa. Taste is roasted chocolate, touch of molasses, vanilla, raisins and lingering soy sweetness. Very dark fudge-esque malts dominating the flavour. Nice oily/syrupy body that complements the taste. Mildly bitter, enough to make my reach back for my glass. Solid imperial stout.

Winter 09-10 bottling. Appearance - Pours a thick near black with tan head Smell - A little alcohol present, hop aromas still present. Roast, smoke, vanilla, lactic sweetness (milk chocolate?) and something mineral-like. Taste is similar to smell, begins as a milk chocolate light sweetness and ends bittersweet. Just a velvety smooth, luxurious malt body. Preferred with age as the hops have softly faded. I’d say it’s held up very well.

Pitch Black with a Brown head. Nose has some sweet chocolate, licorice, cocoa, rum raisin and roasted malts. Flavor is chocolate, rum raisin, licorice, roasted malts and coffee/mochachino. Body is wide and lightly carbonated and creamy. Another great offering from Brooklyn Brewery!
