COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

750 mL corked and caged bottle, 2013 vintage, shared with ebone1988. The pour is a medium black with a thinner light tan head and a good lace. The champagne definitely throws the typical head density out the window. The aroma is definitely carrying a resounding sweetness from the champagne yeast, but the chocolate hops on that pretty well. There is a decent roasted malt and a good chocolate depth. Light coffee and vanilla notes poke through and there is a good oakiness on the back end. The flavor is incredibly sweet. Not even chocolate or malty sweet. Champagne sweet. There is a bourbon flavor that moves in half way through and carries out the back end. Malts kind of make their presence known and then fall off. The mouth feel is really light and watery. The carbonation isn’t really prevalent and this baby jumps off the tongue quickly. The aftertaste is lingeringly sweet bourbon and a touch of oak. By God I’m glad I don’t have any more of these. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20, 2013 vintage. Aroma is champagne, milk chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla. Appearance is black, light brown head. Taste is pretty bland, sweetness overtakes with light roasted malt, milk sugar, chocolate, slight vanilla. Mouthfeel is light, not much booze or barrel presence, not much happening. Overall, very disappointing.

Bottled. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, wood, vanilla and bourbon notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with alcohol too. Medium bodied, oily tocreamy texture and soft carbonation. An excellent Impy. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bottle at the Cads 10th Anniversary bash, 2012 vintage thanks to Daniel, 29/03/15. Black with a decent tan covering that retains well. Nose is rich chocolate, dark fruit rinds, dates, light spice, charr, suggestion of alcohol. Taste comprises mellow dark fruitage, molasses, chocolate pudding, toffee fudge. Medium + body, soft to oily mouthfeel, lightly warming alcohol in the close. This one exceeded my expectations, xolid impy action.

Bottle 2013, pours a dark brown/black with a large tan head. Sweet aroma, oak, caramalized bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and mild fruity toasted malts. Upfront chocolate, vanilla, sweetness fading into bitter smokey roast and coffee, oak, and finishing with boozy bourbon.

Bottle, 2013 vintage. Black pour with a mocha head. Aroma is very chocolatey, creamy, fairly boozy, bourbon cuts through. Flavour is dark chocolate and coffee, boozy with bourbon notes, a little light palate for the ABV but tons of flavour. Very tasty.

Bottle pour. Smooth and malty. Good balance. Nothing unique but well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
