Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Black color with brown head. Aroma is astringent, slightly alcoholic and a bit of chocolate and roast in the background. Taste is also pretty boozy, dry at first but the finish is fudgy with bourbon notes. Medium body and carbonation. Not bad but it’s not what I would expect from a barrel aged imperial stout.

2016/03/20 - Pours a dark motor oil colour with a thick, foamy, tan head that slowly reduces to a patchy film that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is milk chocolate, coffee, molasses, dark fruits, oak, vanilla and bourbon notes. Taste is cocoa, soy, coffee, oaky-vanilla notes, molasses and strong bourbon. Mouthfeel is thin to medium and slick with low carbonation and a warming, boozy finish. Not as well rounded as the top tier barrel aged stouts, but delicious nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Brooklyn Black Ops) Corked and caged bottle 750 ml at home, vintage 2012. Served into a snifter, ABV 10.5% Black coloured body, with a small but nicely thick, dark brown head on top, average retention.Eventually a thin line of foam stays behind and around the glass. Aroma of cork, wood, port wine, intense whiskey, alcohol, light vanilla. Taste has even more whiskey, alcohol, wood, roasted matls, vanilla. Sweet and boozy. Medium thick body, nicely carbonated. Very good, difficult to finish in one sit though because of the intense alcohol.

750 ml bottle. Best before: September 2017. ABV: 11.6 %
Aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented in the bottle with Champagne yeast.

I’ve had this beer before. Last time at Porterfestivelen in November 2015 and I know I wanted to get hold of a bottle at release.

The beer pours dark, dark brown - almost black with a huge five finger high, mocca-colored head.

Nose: Vanilla, bourbon, sweet licorice, oak, some smoke and roasted malt. Oh! This is SOOO beatiful!
Taste: Soft, silky smooth taste of vanilla, bourbon, oak, dark chocolate, molasses, roast coffee, ash and milk chocolate.
Mouthfeel: This is "pretty light" mouthfeel for an ABV of 11.6% - Still: Soft an creamy, light carbonation. Dry, sweet ending.

This IS a beatiful, tasty, smooth and GREAT beer but at a bit to high pricetag.
149 SEK for 75 ml that’s for 25 oz.
