3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black, brown head. Aroma of seared black malts, charcoal, oak, hint of chocolate and vanilla. Starts off with ashey, acrid black matls, medium -full body, lots of oak (can feel it) but smooths out, some chocolate and vanilla notes come out, lush, creamy oaky finish, controlled bitterness. Its good, not great, doesnt stand out compared to the other barrel aged stouts and quite pricy. Could have more viscosity.

2013 bottling. Black ops is a black brown opaque beer with a thick head of larger mocha bubbles. Nose is strong with Oak, vanilla, and very dark chocolate. Also, alcohol, bourbon and sweet caramel. Taste is woody dry and creamy. middle way there is oak and some rich bitter chocolate. Finishes just a bit warming, bitter and creamy. body is silky and slightly lively. A very impressive beer.

Bottle. Fresh. Alcohol smell overwhelms everything. Dark malts and alcohol up front with unsweetened chocolate. This will kick ass in a few years.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark black with a a khaki colored head, it smells of bourbon, vanilla notes as well as coffee and chocolate. The taste leads with a mouthfull of bourbon followed by chocolate and then goes to a bit of coffee, the body is a bit thinner than I expected. I think this beer is overhyped, it is a good stout but not worth the search

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep dark brown/black color with light tan head. Boozy, grainy, roasty and chocolate aroma. Big boozy and sweet flavor, barrel like character with some oak notes, grainy. Pretty good stout, a little hot and grainy but I like to make drink time.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark brown, almost black, mocha lacing. Aroma is sweet but mild, bourbon, baker’s chocolate, some vanilla, caramel, and hints of coffee. Very little sweetness in the taste and rounds out with a slight tart twang. Fairly smooth but thinner body than expected. Little carbonation and the finish is abrupt.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Glass from 25 oz bottle at American taproom The stout poured a deep black and no head. The aroma was mild due to the beer’s temperature. At the beginning it was too cold. The aroma was a mild blend of chocolate and bourbon. What a wonderful experience. This is creamy tasting stout with bourbon, chocolate and a hint of coffee. The medium body had soft carbonation. The finish was smooth with lingering bourbon on the tongue.

Bottle shared at the Foothills Sexual Chocolate pre-release party. Massive dark chocolate, marshmallow cream, oak, and toast notes. Great oak presence for a woody spice with luscious dark chocolate and espresso notes. Lingers forever. Awesome!
