Commercial Description:
Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve bottles. Brroklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say there are only 1000 cases. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Bottle shared by Dickensonbeer. Black pour with a small off white head. Aroma...roasted coffee, malts and chocolate. Flavor is roasty with some bitterness. Full bodied. Very good...thanks Paul.

Big thanks to fishingnet for binging this treat. Beautiful pour of deep blackness and dark mocha head. Great looking brew. The aroma is bold raisins, plums, some chocolate, mild molasses, toffee and vanilla. The taste begins with raisins and prunes then moving toward molasses and velvety smooth chocolate. Beyond midway some booze rises up with a resurgence of raisins, prunes and fig goodness. Very nice stuff indeed. Just delicious. Thanks Ben.

750ml bottle into a pint glass - dark in color. The alcohol definitely hits you on the nose. Price is a bit steep at $17 a bottle, but it didn’t stop me from buying another one for the cellar. Another good beer by the guys at Brooklyn.

courtesy of fishingnet. Pours black with yellow mocha head. Aroma and taste have plenty of good caramel malts with notes of chocolate. Really rich and smooth notes of the vanilla coupled with the bourbon. Exceptional beer, too bad it is not available year long.

Thanks fishingnet for the share. This beer is incredible. Pours a deep black with a nose of bourbon, chocolate, malt, licorice, vanilla, maple, oak, and whiskey, along with plenty of depth. Flavor is awesome: vanilla, coffee, licorice, chocolate, maple, some noticeable hops in the finish. There is noticeable alcohol here and there, but lots of bourbony chocolatey, coffee and this beer balances its acts with style. Very enjoyable. It is up there with BCS as one of the most enjoyable of 2008.

Bottle courtesy of fishingnet. Pours a dark black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of whiskey, caramel, wood, vanilla, dark chocolate, and hints of coffee and dark ripe fruit. Flavor is also sweet and malty with notes of caramel, toffee, coffee, dark chocolate, some wood and smoke, hints of dark ripe fruit and vanilla. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing malty phenol finish.
