3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheMantle (37) - New York, USA - MAR 8, 2010
On tap at Brooklyn Brewery. This one has a very strong florally hop smell. It is light bodied and well carbonated. The florally and citrusy hops dominate the flavor. The orange hop flavor lingers after finishing. Great refreshing IIPA
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BiddleBrau (639) - Midland Park, New Jersey, USA - MAR 7, 2010
On tap at Amity Hall, NYC. Pours clear golden with thin white head. Big citrus and pine in the aroma. Citrus flavor at first but really becomes much more akin to pine shortly after. This brew is all about the hop with very little malt profile stepping in. Overall finishes clean but ’pine’ does begin to linger a bit as you finish the pint.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAR 1, 2010
Draft at The Pub. Light amber, thin head. The aroma is quite fruity. Very smooth and light bodied, with an almost breakfast cereal fruitiness. Quite q nice way to end an evening. (#3859, 3/1/2010)
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20 obguthr (2385) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - FEB 28, 2010
Cask: Fantastic fruity nose of apricot, whole grapefruit, strawberry, rosehip. Shimmering amber, thin head. Less complex flavor of grapefruit, flesh then peel, then back to flesh, and ending with a lingering lemon grass. Very well hopped and juicy. Much more hoppy than malty. Alcohol not noticeable. Delicious!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 juiceisloose (1045) - Windermere, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Draft at redlight. Pours a mostly golden color topped by a small, foamy white head that settles to a thin film leaving rings of lace around the glass. The aroma shows some grainy cereal malt, sweet toffee, and some light citrus hop bitterness. The flavor follows with more of the citrus and spicy hops up front, but quickly smoothed over by the bready, cereal malts and sweet toffee. I was hoping for more hop bitterness in this one. Medium bodied with good carbonation, a touch of alcohol and a slightly dry, bitter finish. Not bad, but I was hoping for more.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ibrew2or3 (4699) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 23, 2010
On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours deep gold with assertive white head. The aroma is modest with spicy hops, a touch of citrus, some sweet malts and faint lemon. The taste is smooth and thin for the style bringing up spicy hops, citrusy orange peel, some tangelo and then sweet malts and some toffee in the background.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beerlando (3276) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2010
Draft at Redlight Redlight. A crystal clear, medium golden body is crowned by a small layer of ivory colored foam that settles in quickly to a swirly film. Smooth, solid sheets of lacing coat the glass well. The aroma shows sweet toffee, white bread toast, and cereal grain in the malt base, balanced by notes of melon and lemony, spicy hops. Flavors follow in line, again showing toasted bread malts and overly sweet toffee. Floral, citrusy hop notes do their best to lend balance, though the grainy malt remains overly dominant for as fresh a beer as this one is. The palate is of moderate weight and balanced carbonation, showing a hint of grain alcohol on the slightly drying finish. Eh, it’s a decent brew, but nothing special.
