We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Draft sample at Crossroads Spirits. Poured a dark golden orange color with a thick foamy off white head. Aroma of alcohol, loads of caramel malt, and old citrus fruit. Taste is the same. Very malty, with light citrus bitterness, and some alcohol burn in the finish.

Bottle. Clear dark gold with a big white head. Aroma is tea like hops and some corn/wheat like malt. Taste is tropical fruit and a big alcohol burn. Thick sticky palate and strong carbonation. Not my favorite.

Pretty delightful brew. I enjoy the bright fruity notes. Loads of citrus from the hops. Plenty of sweetness from malts.

Bottle to glass. Pours a clear deep golden light copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is mild citrus, apricot, with a lager-like character. Flavor loses a lot of the hops and has a strange lager tinge to it. Light to medium in body with a lingering funk. Not sure how I feel about this one. Drinkable, but not my favorite.

Bottle at home. Aroma is mostly citrus hops. Flavors of apricot, peach, pine, orange creamsicle, Well rounded finish. Bitter but fruity and zero astringency. Super fresh, clear, and focused. Dangerously high drinkability for 9%. A superb DIPA.

Pours orange-gold with a thin off-white head. Aroma is fruity with pine and caramel. Taste is more of the same with nice hop/malt balance. Smooth finish, quite light on the bitterness.

The nose is intense hooy-fruity, the beer itself starts smooth with nice floral hop aroma. The body is slightly sweet, but not too much. The floral hops have hints of citrus and pine, but are smoother and not as "blast-off", as expected. The aftertaste is fresh, floral-grassy, slightly sweet and very smooth. The bitterness is well-balanced.
A nice brew, but nothing that special. --> 11/12/11/11

Draft from freshly tapped keg. I had the first non-foamy pint from the keg. Delicious! Not much of a nose, but mostly due to my having a sinus issue at the time. Gave this a mid-range value since I was unable to tell. Color a clear light amber. Head was as previously described by others - once the newly tapped keg stopped acting up, there was about a finger of slightly off-white head, which dropped off to a few mm after about 4-5 minutes. Pretty direct taste of citrus, pine, resinous, very very intense. No fooling around here. Mouth feel was sharp, shocking sharp, but in a good way. NOT something you can quaff - the flavor and mouthfeel was too intense for that. I had to sip it very slowly. Savor the intensity. Shazam! would also have been a good name for it!
