We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

Keg at Evening Star, Brighton. It pours hazy orange-amber, with a long-lasting thick off-white head. The nose is sweet orange, tangerine, apricot, peach, white grape and sweaty socks. The taste is orange, clementine, marmalade, white grape, pine and resin, with bitterness in the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced and easy drinking. Good Stuff.

On tap. Rich golden color. Aroma is very heavy hops with citrus mixed in. Taste continues with lots of hops. The advertising does not lie. Grapefruit and orange are blended I to this flavoring. Strong hops aftertaste. Alcohol content is very noticeable.

Pint at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, sweet. Peach apricot, cereal malt. Captain crunch. Clean golden orange color. Ok head and lace. Bittersweet flavor. Thick body, creamy viscous mouthfeel, dry bitter finish. Darn nice beer. Going down easy for abv level. Aroma is my favorite part. Nice mix with hops and malt.

Served in a Brooklyn Brewery snifter at the Beer Bistro, Chicago, IL Ar: Strong floral and citrus aromas dominate with a very. very slight note of pine here and there. Ap: Thick three finger bright white head that takes several minutes to fully dissipate leaving beautiful lacing. Deep golden color with slight amber hues T: Opens with a flood of citrus hops, orange and lemon, grapefuit, transitions into sweetness, malt, orange, and banana notes. Finishes with continued sweet citrus, light orange juice, a very subtle touch of pine, and a bit of alcohol. P: Well-carbonated, very noticable malt backbone, fairly hefty body for a DIPA. O: One of the fruitiest, sweetest DIPA’s I’ve had. In fact it was a bit too fruity and sweet for me. The smell and opening of the beer was fantastic, however I kept waiting for some hop bitterness to balance out the sweet which never came. A solid DIPA that fans of sweeter, fruiter beers will love.
