We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer thatís beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You wonít even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

Pours a clear golden color with a fluffy white head. Aroma of tropical fruit and light pine. Taste is a great balance between Europe and American IPAs. Thereís a citrusy, pineapple front with piney bitter finish. Weíll balanced and crisp. Not bad and good price.

On draft. Pours a clear light golden color with a decent sized eggshell head that leaves an impressive clingy wall of lace. Nose involves honey malt notes, some pine, pineapple, and light spicy hops. Fairly sweet and fairly bitter. Lighter bodied for a DIPA, actively carbed, oily, with a drying bitter finish. A well put together brew, but to me it held back on the hop aromas and flavors.

On tap at HOTB. Sweet sticky hop aroma. Apricot and pears. Medium golden amber clear with huge white lacing head. Starts and stays sweet with tons of juicy and fruity hop flavors - pineapple, pear, and apricot. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Delicious flavor, sweet with good hop flavor but not any harsh bitterness. Mild bitter after with sweet fruity lingering notes.

Have seen this many times on draft, always scrolled past. Saw it for the first time bottled today and picked up a 4 pack for $8.99. Not a huge investment in case itís dumpster juice. So here we go. Pours a clear light amber with a white head. Active carbonation steaming. Smells of earthy, dirty hops, some dirty malts. Taste is similar, some funky dirty hops,a touch of citrus but mostly those dirty english type hops. Iím guessing goldings for the English hops (no idea, just a guess based on the dirty aroma) and perhaps Willamette for the US hops? Pretty thin mouthfeel. Slightly fruity finish with no real bitterness present. Itís middle of the road.

Draft. Cloudy, deep golden body with orange highlights. Frothy, white head, lasting. Floral aroma with notes of grass, straw, citrus, tropical fruits. Hint of pine. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Citrus and grassy tastes. Grapefruit, oranges. Light alcohol pepperiness.

From a growler. A: Smells very piney. An earthy citrus smell. A: Looks fine. Head is small. color is reddish amber. T: When cold very piney and earthy. A sort of body odor funk on the back of the palate. This beer gets better as it warms. It keeps that sort of pine note but the BO funk disappears. Goes down easy... almost too easy: light and not overly flavorful. P; Rough when cold. good when warm. A little light. Good hop balance. Was gonna give it a three but if you let it linger it has a nice creaminess. And after the beer is a bit warmer it can sit on the palate comfortably for a long while. Much better than many IPAs. Overall like mentioned above this beer is gross when its cold, but very good when itís warm. Nice pine note in the hops and extremely easy to drink. A very great brew.

On draught at Moon Under Water, Victoria, Canada. The name is awesome. Amber, white head. Nose is fresh juicy grapefruit, pine, slight cat piss, alcohol. The latter two characteristics come out more in the flavour, which is not overly bitter and quite sweet. Alright but one those beers where I look at other reviews and silently ask if my palate is off rather than the product.
