COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

On draft (in a plastic cup!) at the brewery. Pours an orange amber with average off white head. Nose is pineapple, grapefruit, citrus, and pine. Taste is grapefruit, mandarin orange, pineapple with a little pine. Moderate bitterness. I was not expecting much and was really pleasantly surprised by this. Very fresh.

Had this on tap at The White Horse during the American Beer Fest over 4th of July weekend. Poured a clear orange and had a lightly frothy head that turned into delicate lacing thoughout the drink. This smelled of everything I love about a great Dipa. Well balanced, sweet smelling but still holds a heavy kick of hop presence. then to top it off, a outdoorsy sweet flower, citrus zest and pine aroma that is what sets it apart from other ipa’s. The flavor is full of Citrus, floral, and sweet yeast which comes through nicely and mingles with the sticky pine and hop flavors that perfectly define the style. The feel is close to perfect with it’s mild carbonation (almost like a cask ale) and medium body. As with any DIpa, I usually have them towards the end of the night as they can wreck the palette and this one being 8% I can’t say that I could drink it all night . . . but I would certainly try to.

Draught at Macgregor’s Penfield. Deep golden color with lace. Tutti-frutti nose, with pineapple, mandarin orange, bubble gum. Fascinating. Great, crazy frit flavors, again bubble gum like, but not in a bad or cloying way. Very original and wonderful use of hops. Soft carbonation. Very fun and tasty.

Ap: Orange-amber, although the lighting made it hard to tell. Ar: Very hoppy with pine, citrus, grapefruit, orange, lemon zest. T: Well-balanced, bready and caramel malty sweetness balanced with not-too-bitter citrus hops. Spices, even berries maybe? P: Medium-light feel.

Gold cloudy pour. Thin head that sticks around. Nice lacing. Aroma of cheese and apples. Taste is a little fruity. Light grass. A little sugar and toffee. I wasn’t a huge fan of this one.

Draft. Cloudy gold color. Citrus aroma is heavy. Very nice taste. Lots of bitterness but in a good way. It doesn't hang around on your palate forever. I am enjoying this a lot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
