COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

Boutip (5198) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 2, 2015
Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of intense citrus notes with light bitter flavors. Taste is dominated by intense citrus hops flavors with light piney notes and some residual sugar. Some bitterness is discernable. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed but doesn’t really stands out from the pack and a bit too much bitterness for my taste.

stravale (2517) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - MAY 27, 2015
Bottle from Supervalu, Longford [140515]
Amber, slight haze, frothy white head
Aroma of mellow herbal hops, soft zest, soft sweet malts, orange resin, bit grassy
Taste of herbal hops, bit grassy, sweet malts, some earthy English hops, zest, definitely a mix of US / UK hops in there
Palate - Soft carb, medium to full body, light sweet, alcohol quite noticeable. Finish of bitter herbs, zest hops, bit of drying alcohol
Overall - Well made beer, but I’m not all that keen on the flavour profile of the hops

Pours bright orange with a one finger off white head with decent lacing. Aroma is of citrus (a lot of grapefruit), pine, tropical fruits, light bready malts, some dankness, and some light booze. Taste is grapefruit, pine, tropical fruits, pils malts, and light sweet malts. Has a medium-full body with a semi creamy, chewy mouthfeel, and a slightly more then moderately bitter, semi dry, medium finish. Overall, a pretty tasty, well balanced DIPA.

Draft. Very bright grapefruit aroma. Slightly sweet, very hoppy IPA. Slightly bitter finish. Another great example of a modern, high ABV IPA.

On tap at The Brass Tap poured a clear tarnished gold with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, dank bud, earthiness, pine and grapefruit. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, pine, grapefruit and light earthiness with a smooth dry moderately bitter finish.

Pale gold pour, quick white head. Nose is light wood. Bitter. Middle is smooth malt, apricots and light citrus zest. Finish is a nice interplay of malt and hops. Hides the ABV very well.

Bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Pours amber with white froth. Quite boozy, hoppy, plenty of pine. Doesn’t hide the booze like some other strong IPAs.
