We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

Bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Pours amber with white froth. Quite boozy, hoppy, plenty of pine. Doesn’t hide the booze like some other strong IPAs.

minutemat (2580) - Shrewsbury, Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2015
355ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours hazy amber. Sweet pine aroma. Taste is orangey, resinous but nowhere near as hoppy as I thought it would be. Dangerously drinkable for the ABV.

Bottle - hazy orange amber with slim white head. Aroma of orange citrus, some sweet maltiness. Nice fresh taste, citrus orange, other fruit, nicely balanced, touch of alcohol warmth. Medium bodied, softly carbonated. Nice DIPA.

In short: dry bitter ale.
Pours hazy golden with frothy white head. Short head retention, poor lacing. Malty, fruity nose. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite bitter, fruity, pine and caramel notes. Ends quite dry and bitter.

larsga (6771) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 9, 2015
Medium offwhite head. Slightly hazy amber body with light carbonation. Citric pineapple aroma. Not really a great fan of that. Sweet resiny fruity pineapple taste with mealy notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish resiny minty pineapple aftertaste with spicy fruity notes. Tastes much better than the aroma. (0.355l bottle, I forget where from.)

Light gold. Bit of a grapefruit aroma, taste is a bit of grapefruit, pine hops. Light body. Not bad.

venom666 (582) - Elche, SPAIN - APR 17, 2015
Hazy orange color with medium off-white head. Aroma is fruity and resiny, with a big malty background. Taste follows the aroma, with that fruitiness from the American hops, resin, floral characters and some malty background with a bit of alcohol. Bitterness is a bit annoying, very soft and quick-fading.
