3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz tulip glass on tap at the Underground Tap and Grill in Edmonton pours a golden orange color with a finger of white head that leaves some pretty nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is big on orange citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is an orange zesty bitterness with some tropical fruit sweetness on a good malty backbone. Medium bodied with good carbonation. A very well done brew and highly recommended.

Draft to goblet
Aroma of tangerine, tangerine, tangerine, hops, pepper and tropical fruity. Slightly cloudy amber with a full white head that settles after a few minutes to a thin layer but with nice lacing. Taste is very fruity, a lot like guava, with muted hoppiness. Hops that are not overpowering, but pleasant.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft - Tons of tropical fruit, so pleasant and a nice contrast to the pine/grapefruit we normally see. Cloudy orange with a thick medium head. Citrus punch of the bat with more tropical fruit and a mild bitterness. Very deceptive flavour considering the high ABV. Dry finish with a hint of resin. Very different, but pretty good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice!!!! Heavy hoppy aroma with a burgeoning smack of resin and big floral fruity notes. The pour is a mild orange hue with a finger of foamy white head. Sweet honey and caramel malts with a hint of malt character up front. Then full on hops and resinous hops with boozy warmth on the finish. Overall a big hopped up brew.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Blah. Awful beer. On tap at Mad Mex Robinson so maybe the lines were dirty., but this beer was not good. Aroma was average at best. Clay, earth and muted hops. Pour sucked at first. Must’ve just tapped the keg because it was all foam. After a while it was a dark orange color with a huge head. Taste was flat, very muted and vague. Without carbonation this beer’s flavor was barely enjoyable. Very weak piney hops and stale malt and not much else. Finish was nothing. No carbonation. Blah

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent orange with foamy off-white head. Smells solid; hoppy. Tastes like it smells with a malty backbone. Average on the palate. Good, not great.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft. Served in a snifter. Color is somewhere between a deep golden and an amber. ½-inch head. Strong citrus aroma (Cascade?) but surprisingly less hoppy in flavor than I expected. (The culprit must be the subdued English hops Brooklyn says they use as the foundation.) Don’t get me wrong—this is a fantastic IPA that I would drink again and again. However, with a name like “Blast,” one would anticipate more of a bite. Instead, the strongest hop flavors are floral, and the malt stands up nicely to them. Almost no bitter aftertaste.
