COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

Draught at bar. Reddish color, white head. Super hoppy taste with caramel, citrus, some roastiness and dry bitter finish. Excellent DIPA.

On draft, pours clear golden amber body with dense white head. Orange floral bouquet aroma which is very appealing. Thick and resinous with an inherent fullness. Nice hop profile with light citrus notes and spicy pine accents on the finish. A bit of smokiness comes out from the bready malts. Crisp and not too syrupy. Very drinkable for a DIPA.

Brooklyn Blast is a orangy amber hazy brew with a small head of white bubbles. Nose is a restrained presence of pine hops with a touch of citrus and some sort of sweetness. Body is lively. Taste is initially citrus with then an almost white tea like mild bitterness. Finishes just very subtly. an interesting, complex and somewhat different brew.

This is a pretty underwhelming IIPA on the sweet side. It is cloudy orange with a small foamy head. It’s nose is tangerine and a bit of woody pine, not bad but not as vibrant as I’d prefer in the style. This tastes pretty nice too along the lines of what you’d expect given the nose, pretty hoppy with thick, resinous bitterness and good deal of sweetness. This has a relatively nice juicy mouthfeel at first but gets to be rather syrupy and cloying as is it warms. It finishes with a load of sweetness and a hint of citrus. This is not a total disaster but is about one off flavor from being one. It’s main strength is the fact that its a big beer that doesn’t have anything distinctly wrong with it. That’s okay but there’s a lot of beers that are better than okay.

Bottle from hop hideout, sheffield. Light amber with short lived white head. Aroma grassy with some grapefruit and lemon peel. Taste is not intensely bitter, but crisp and refreshing with some alcohol warmth. Medium body and slightly prickly carbonation. Very good.

Powerful but well balanced. This beer proves that Brooklyn can brew some nice Imperial IPA’s

Draft. Pours opaque amber with a fizzy white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like creamy caramel, dry grapefruit hops, nutty malt, and light booze. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like creamy caramel, nutty malt, booze, and dry grapefruit

Pours a nice copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is loaded with citrus, especially pineapple and melon. The mouthfeel is medium, just right to deliver a superbly balanced beer. The hop flavors of grapefruit, melon, and pineapple are present but equaled by the malt backbone. Nice dry finish.

2x355ml bottles, 1 pre and 1 past 10/2014 BB. Note: (DE import label by Braufactum mentions all 11 hops used, some of which are fairly new and one experimental). Intensely pungent-fruity in aroma, indicating layered of intense hop engineering: the core sweeter exotics of mango and pineapple are well contoured by lime zest, green grape, earthy berry, kiwi and stone fruit, some aniseed. Olfactory dessert delivered to the nostrils upon opening with high-impact precision by nearly 9% abv, well done. Taste develops most of those, introducing resins and zest on a condensed marmelade mouthfeel for great balance. Not a taste bud number, with just enough staying power to make you want to consider a 2nd hit at the bottom of the bottle, until the true blast sets it. A bit bolder, rounded and maybe slightly more "cutting edge" than its same-league competitor SN Torpedo Extra IPA.

Tap at Branded in Prospect Heights. Dark copper pour. Aroma is great - fruity hops with white grape, mango and citrus. Taste is less aggressively hoppy but still has fruity character. Strong carbonation and pretty bitter. Quite drinkable. Would get again.

12oz bottle from The Beer Store Wilson. Orange hue, murky clarity with somewhat diminishing fizzy white head. Excellent lacing. Citrus, honey, floral and malt aromas. Orange citrus hop and light malt flavor up front with a medium honey and light citrus finish. Crisp carbonation on the palate. I was surprised and pleased with this beer, pretty good, I will try again.
