Probably the most impressive offering that I have had from Brooklyn Brewery. Blast is a great name since that is the feeling that you get when you’re hit with the intense citrus and resin of the massive hop profile. The malts don’t do a tremendous amount to add to the flavor profile but their sweetness provides a nice balance. Inspite of the huge bitterness of the hops and the apparent stickiness of the sweet malts, the finish is clean. If only everything from Brooklyn were this good.

On tap at Taco Mac Kennesaw.Pours a cloudy yellow/orange with a white medium head.nose is beautiful floral and citrus hops.Taste is really spectacular with a perfect balance of hops and malts with sweet citrus hops shining through.I would love to try this side by side with Hopslam,Vey nice Dub IPA.

On tap @ the Avenue Pub in New Orleans. Pours a light orange color with a small head. Aromas of citrus and pine, flavor is the same. A huge citrus hop flavor...awesome!

At the brewery. Good looking clear amber-orange with an orangy head. Nose of fruity hops (grape, apple, pear, some citrus but not as overpowering as in other IIPAs). Would have liked stronger hop aroma. Flavor much the same, quite bitter with a long dry finish.

Had this one on cask at Blind Tiger Ale House. Nice temp -- poured to a nice golden color, very hoppy aroma. Hops, though, don’t overpower the on the palate and it’s finish is very smooth. A pretty good balanced ale and I was quite suprised to learn it had such a high alcohol %.

Golden pour with ample head. For the high alcohol content this is unbelievably smooth and easy drinking. Not overly hoppy either. Solid beer!

UPDATED: APR 22, 2012 1st time I had this at the brewery ~2 years ago I would have given it a higher score probably. This last tasting from this summer on draft at Bruekelen Bier Merchents down the street from he brewery wasn’t quite as overwhelmingly awesome...though it was still damn good. Maybe it is just experience but I don’t think so. Anyway, Huge floral and tropical (orange and mango) hop dimensions as well as pine resin and grapefruit. Medium body which is very sweet and plenty bitter with the later character of the nose. Astringent finish.

Very good on tap. Pours hazy golden colour and holds a foamy white head. Good strong aroma of pine and floral hops. Tastes a little sweet and not much bitter, a very smooth drink that hides the 9% alcohol content very well.
