Yellow with a small white head. Hoppy aroma and hop-dominated bitter flavour.

The aroma was fruity with a nice presence of pineapple and tropical fruits coupled to some caramel and even a bit of spice. The beer arrived cloudy golden with a moussy white tall head which lasted till the end to lace the glass. The flavor was a very nice malty sweetness on the front end with a fruity character and a light bit of spice on the back. Some alcohol was notable in the flavor. Tropical fruits and more pineapple hop characteristics dominated and the bittering kept everything in check. The finish was dry with a nice pepper/spice into the aftertaste. the body was medium-full with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy texture on the palate. Some light alcohol warming was notable. A darn nice beer! Pint at Barley’s in Greenville.

Cask @ Blind Tiger, NYC. Pours a nice golden color with a white head. Aroma is largely hops with some fruit, malt, and yeast characteristics as well. Taste is malty in the beginning with a huge Blast (no pun intended, it really is the proper term here) of hops toward the end. The hop character is wonderful and does not take away from the beer in the least. I couldn’t tell at all that this was 8% alcohol, it was relatively well hidden. A wonderful offering.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Boliv (1045) - New York, USA - APR 23, 2007
On tap at the brewery. I love hops, and this didn’t disappoint. Golden, slight head, full of hop and pine aromas. The hop and citrus flavor makes for a very smooth and drinkable, but not overwhelming beer. Extremely well hidden alcohol. And I’m pretty sure they mentioned it as an IIPA at the brewery.

On tap at Rose Alley Ale House in New Bedford. Pours a clear deep golden color. Aroma is of pine, floral, hops, and citrus. Flavor is of fresh hops, grapefruit, and pine. Leaves a nice and crisp hop finish. This is one refreshing brew on this super hot day.

On-tap at bocktown this evening. Served in a 12 oz snifter.
A-Body is a nearly transparent light, somewhat faded amber hue. Served with a 1/2 finger soapy white head that has good retention at a thick collar. Minimal traces of lacing left behind in the glass.
S- Awesome. A big dose of citrus-full of bright white grapefruit and orange arise first. A slight earthy/mustiness is also noticeable with a thin but still presence sweet caramel and pale malt backbone.
T-Taste is pretty similar to the smell. Lots of grapefruit and citrus upfront-though not quite as bright as the nose...and a slightly sweet malt backbone. The mustiness isn’t in the flavor as it was in the nose. The finish has a touch of pine and herbal hops but is mostly the citrus intensifying with a mild kick of spiciness. What lingers is a mild citrus rind bitterness...which doesn’t really last that long.
P- Medium tingly carbonation and a fairly light and drinkable body. Not really oily but certainly not thin.
O- This is a very good DIPA. The hop profile reminds me ever so slightly of the brooklyn-schneider hopfen weisse. I really like the brooklyn special release/seasonal brews (BCS, Local 1, local 2,..the collaborations with schneider)...and this one is just as good as those...much mroe impressive then their regular lineup.

On tap at Delaney’s Tap Room on a recent trip to New Haven
A- Pours a clear golden yellow hue, white creamy head mostly retains, lacing all over
S- Nose is an elegant bouquet of sweet, sugary malts and modest pine/grass/grapefruit hops, nice helping of vanilla, spices, and brown sugar, amazing aromas!
T- Initial taste is super bitter hops with a mostly citrus character, transitions to sweet bread malts, finishes with a mix of sugary molasses and dry bitter hops
M- Medium-bodied, oily texture, moderate carbonation
D- Wonderfully balanced DIPA, the hops and malts work together nicely, I was completely sold on the aroma and could drink this gem all night long, definitely the best beer at Delaney’s

At the brewery:
Appear - Deep golden amber. Highly carbonated with persistant white head.

Flavor - Rich toasted malt. Assertive hop flavor - earthy / grassy with mectarine / pineapple fruit. Strong hop bitterness in finish.
Mouthfeel - Full bodied and thick. High carbonation with some byte in the finish. Drying bitterness with light astringency.

Sampled as part of the Draught House ’s firkin Fridays in early May 2010.
Poured from a firkin on top of the bar. The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the pine and orange hops. The flavor is a great mix of citrus, resin and pine hops. All of the flavors meld nicely with none of them really standing out and dominating the others. Very soft mouthfeel and low carbonation.
