COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brew our beer in New York, about halfway between the hop fields of the Pacific Northwest and the hop fields of Kent, England. So we use earthy English hops to build the foundation and bright citrusy American hops to bring the noise in the rambunctious IPA we call BLAST! British Maris Otter and German Pilsner malts lends solidity, balance and bready flavors to brace up a beer that’s beautifully hoppy, strangely quaffable and oddly compelling. Minerally hop bitterness is followed by a shock wave of flavor and aroma. You won’t even know what hit you.

Malts: Scottish Floor-malted Maris Otter, German Pilsner Malt

Hops: Willamette, Magnum, Cascade, Fuggle, Aurora, Zythos, Bravo, Simcoe, Sorachi Ace, Amarillo, Experiment 6300

Draught goblet (12 oz?) at American Flatbread in Burlington, VT (May 2008). Bright, oily translucent gold with a lasting bit of bright white foam and nice lacing....fresh, sweet aroma: honey, resinous hops, very inviting with no alcoholic harshness...body is sweet, juicy, lightly syrupy, with floral and faintly bitter notes...dry, clean, slightly mineralic-salty finish, verging on crisp with the syrupy thickness almost entirely washed away....nicely done, one of the best beers I’ve had from Brooklyn.

Light gold. Bit of a grapefruit aroma, taste is a bit of grapefruit, pine hops. Light body. Not bad.

Hazy orange color with medium off-white head. Aroma is fruity and resiny, with a big malty background. Taste follows the aroma, with that fruitiness from the American hops, resin, floral characters and some malty background with a bit of alcohol. Bitterness is a bit annoying, very soft and quick-fading.

At just on cool and into a snifter. Hazy orange, dull, with a soapy lather of froth atop. Sweetly floral, bouquet garni herbal and resinous is the nose with a pronounced rose petal note. On the palate it is amplified. So much Chelsea garden show on offer here it was daunting. Floral to ’nth with rose water, lavender, eucalyptus, dandelion, could go on. Not unpleasant, just a strange concoction. Body is light but it is creamy and smooth making it heavier than its weight. Alcohol is masked by the fact it tastes like perfume. Not exactly a glass of enjoyment. (12fl.Oz, BBE 09/15, The Liquor She’d, Jandakot)

Very nice unfiltered amber color. Nose of citrus and wild flowers with hints of barley. As you would stay at the edge of a summerly field. Taste is bitter and long citric finish. One of the better beers I had...

330mL bottle. Pours a cloudy golden hue with a small white head. Pungent fruity/orange aroma, massive resinous pine/mandarin/orange flavour.

Här vare vitt! I kronan! Ölen var gul. Svag doft av humle. Dricker Jah ett gammal ex? Trevlig humle & en viss maltsötma kommer upp. Trevlig fylleöl. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gold with a half-inch of white head, medium-coarse, moderate-fast rate of decay. Aroma is orange-mango citrus, some floral honey sweetness, and a touch of hay. Body is oily-syrupy-watery, medium-medium-light weight, medium-light carbonation, moderate burn. Flavor is floral, some pine and orange, a touch of neutral candy sweetness. Light touch of clean bitterness. Overall, a decent double IPA. Nothing exceptional.
