The color is dark brown with a nice creamy head. The aroma and flavors are bready with raisin notes (like in a Westy 12 almost!).

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Caramel malts, yeast, bread, light candy sugar, apple, light fruit, and a bit of spice. A nice non-offensive belgian ale, but at the same time it’s also not too exciting.

Bottle @ patrick’s. Brown pour with a modest amount of tan head. Belgian yeasts, dark fruits, chocolate, nuttty almost chicory like aroma and flavor notes. This brew maybe misclassified, closer to a dubbel.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 popery (1014) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 8, 2010
This beer pours an opaque (at least in relatively low light), dark brown with a fine beige head that puffs up well and leaves good lacing. The nose is refined brown sugar, malt and good fruitiness of the plum/nectarine variety. I prefer the aroma to the flavor, which adds in a relatively strong phenol note. Feel is smooth and fairly creamy. The drinkability is high because it’s really an excellent beer to pair with food. It’s a strong, relatively unique flavor that doesn’t dominate the palate.

Bottle. Pours cola brown with a faint reddish hue, very small beige head with a touch of lacing. Big notes of green apple in the nose as well as some brown sugar. Disappointing on the palate, a touch of candie sugar and a little watery, a little underwhelming.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 darkguardian (716) - Florida, USA - MAR 18, 2010
750ml bottle thanks to a kind soul at Coffee District. Never thought I would get to try this one. Pours a dark amber with a puffy white head. Huge nose of wildflower honey and orange zest, peppery yeast. Great nose. Flavor is tons of honey and bready yeast. Slight bitter orange in the finish. Great smooth full bodied. Shocked to see it was only 6.3% (bottle said something different than what the site says).
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 kmweaver (3046) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - DEC 21, 2009
750mL bottle, courtesy of MrDick. Thanks, Rich! Pours a slightly oily, yellowish-cola color; yellowish head with patchy lacing; nice color. Solid, straightforward aroma of cola and brown sugar; a touch rough at the edges; some inkiness. Reasonably smooth mouthfeel: somewhere between relaxed and fizzy large-bubbled carbonation (soft in the mouth); lots of cola, dried sugar, and some inky, dried dark fruits; again, a solid, straightforward cola-dominated Belgian. Medium finish: cola, brown sugar again; balanced ending.
