COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Dark brown body with a thin yet clinging tan head. Nice, inviting aroma of nuts, malt, and caramel. The palate is surprisingly bright with a metallic tinge. The brew’s entry is smooth and semi-sweet. Caramel and nuts. It finishes a little bitter, but it’s extremely well-balanced with the semi-sweetness. Very easy to drink and surprisingly refreshing.

Very dark brown, tiny pale tan head fades to nothing. Nose is something fruity, toasty and slightly metallic (in a good way) too. Palate is dry and roasty, very nutty and more of that lovely metallic note. Hoppy, too. Finish is slightly coffee, but roasty with lots of hops too. Like this a lot.

(bottle) Pours a dark reddish brown with a large light tan head that retains for awhile before settling to a medium cap. Nice lacing. Aroma is pretty decent, and certainly indicates that this is a hoppier brown ale than most. Roasty scents really make a strong showing as well and provides a nice counterbalance to the hops to remind you you’re still drinking a brown ale. Scents of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, light roasted coffee, mixed with a little pine and grapefruit. Some tootsie roll too. Flavor is moderately sweet, with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, faint coffee, plum, and roasted malt. The hops present in the aroma are not strong in the flavor nor the finish. The finish is just predominately even roasted with a faint bitterness, but the flavors fade fast. Mouthfeel is medium and could stand to be fuller and the carbonation is a tad high. Overall this is a solid brown ale that would be great to session in the fall.

Bottle. A brown colour with a thin white head that quickly disappeared. It looks like Coca Cola. Aroma of dried fruits. Sweet, malty, chocolatey, low bitterness. A good if not spectacular beer.

Amber/brown color, with a small head. Sweet and mildly bitter, with some nuttiness.
