COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

12oz bottle. Dark brown with a slight red hue, foamy light tan head. Nice nose-smell, roasty malty chocolatey aroma but hops like those from a pale ale are still evident. Not very strong in the aroma, though, hard to pick up the nuances of it. Creamy, but thin palate, shorter aftertaste than I’d like, although it’s quite drinkable.

Had this on draft several months ago. I remember that I liked it and I would drink again. Just want to get the check.

12 oz bottle from Princeton’s. Dark brown pour with a creamy eggshell head. Not a very strong aroma, some malt, hints of chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel with some nutty, malty note in the flavor. Not too bad but as a disclaimer I’m not a huge fan of the style.

Bottle. Brown clear pour with a off white head that dissipates to a collar. Aroma is roasted malt and cereal with some faint coco. Taste starts out with a sweet chacolate roasted malt and finishes bitter. Palate is thin to medium body with a chaulky finish.

On tap at Groveland tap pours darkish cola brown with a small tan head. Aroma is very subdued dark roast, caramel, and chocolate. Taste has a bland initial caramel flavor into roastiness, chocolate and nutty bitterness. Not too impressed.

Bottle. Lasting medium tan head. Aroma and taste is mainly nuts, hops, roast and caramel. Abrupt finish.

Pours dark brown with some reddish hues, slightly off white head. Aroma has notes of earth, nuts, some caramel and roast. Taste is not as good, but as notes of some earthy nutty component, some caramel with a slightly bitter, harshly carbonated finish.

Bottle. Aroma of chocolate cake and cocoa powder. Rich mahogany in color. Terrific chocolate cake to start, with a touch of underlying malt roastiness, a hoppy tang in the middle, and a very quick finish. Wished the finish matched the richness of the start. The hop "tang" is a bit out of place in this otherwise rich beer.
