COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker, consumed four months before best before date. Pours a medium clear brown with amber/reddish highlights and small tan head. Not much lacing, thick oily body, and low carbonation. Taste is chemical roasty malt, some nut, and finishes with some hops. Dissapointing.

Very nice. Pours dark brown with thin but tight tan head. Strong hop aroma with evident Carmel notes. Flavor does have some sweetness but brewer not shy about bringing hop bitterness. Very quaffable.

Dark brown with a creamy head. Tastes a little like burned toast (not especially pleasant), with some caramel, chocolate, coffee in there, too. Bitter finish. Not as good as I was hoping for.

355ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a foamy head. Roasted malt, brown sugar and dried fruit in the aroma. Toffee, nuts, malt and dried fruit can be detected in the slightly sweet taste. Not bad.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2011 Re-rate 04/07/11 - more coffee and caramel on the nose this time. Also, a very generous chocolate and coffee taste and much more balanced. Original rating 19/04/11 6/4/5/2/10 = 2.7 355ml bottle. It pours very dark, almost black, with a nicely proortioned head. The nose has malt & toffee. The taste is of burnt ginger biscuits. The palate has big structure and texture but the finish isn’t really a finish at all. Everything is up in the air and unresolved, quite cloying. Overall, this beer did not live up to the initial appearane and nose.

Pour is a brown color with a light tan head which quckly fades to a thin rim. Nose is of malts mostly nuts and chocolate. Taste is the same, rather basic brown ale.

Brooklyn Brown Ale: It pours a deep brown color with a light tan head that seems to dissipate quickly. Head being about two fingers at first then disappears in about a minute. The small bubbles in the head give it a nice creamy looking constancy. Not much aroma to speak of just very subtle notes of roasted malts with a little bit of sweetness. Somewhat of a slight chocolate smell but not much. First Taste: Nice creamy head and mouth feel but not much flavor to speak of. Mostly just tastes like standard brown ale, you just taste roasted malts maybe a little chocolate but not much else. It has a little bit of a hoppy bitterness on the finish but just barely, definitely nothing overbearing. Mostly a bland beer, but it is a pretty easy drink. The alcohol content of 5.6% shows with little alcohol taste. Overall it was not really that great of a beer but not necessarily bad, just average.

Tap at Stella’s Fish Cafe. This is the first Brooklyn Beer I have seen in Minnesota. Very dark brown. Aroma has malt and some hops. Flavor has a good balance of both as well, dry, grainy malt and a good hop presence. Good palate.
