COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Bottle. The colour is wine red with a tint of brown. The pale beige foam forms a finger thick rather compact head.

The smell is strong with fruity notes of sour fruit drops and roasted malt with some sweetness.

The carbonation is very strong with lots of small bubbles that tickled my tongue.

The taste is fruity and a bit sweet with notes of red wine and cherry jam. The aftertaste is dry and hoppy with some bitter notes and a long flavour of red wine and caramel.

A nice blend of a classic English brown ale and American micro-style hops.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Dark amber rather than mahogany as claimed on the neck label. Filtered and clear with a light brownish head. Very malty and extremely aromatic from the excellent hops in use. Notes of nuts and caramel and a touch of vanilla. Much more fullbodied than British counterparts. Pretty high carbonation.

On tap at the Federal in Durham, NC. Also had in bottle on many occassions. Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin head. Light chocolate aroma on top of a good nutty smell. Chocolate is slightly evident in the flavor. Mostly a good nut flavor and a little bit of hops. A good beer and easy to drink. One of my favorite brown ales.

not much taste and from a bit of bitter and malts. Aggressively carbonated. Ok with food, medium mouthfeel with a spot of nuttiness.Skunky aroma, it may have travelled about but was always kept at good temperature, and before expiry date.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2008 [12 oz. bottle] Clear red/brown pour with a very thin and fizzy tan head. Aroma is slightly sweet and malty with a nutty undertone and a slight hint of citrus I believe? The flavor is a nice nutty beginning with a sweet middle and a smooth malty and nutty finish with a warming hint of alcohol. Not a bad brown ale.

Sweet, malty brown ale. Very simple flavor; but fits the style very well. Slightly nutty flavor, but nothing that stands out.

A fun brown ale that delivers what a brown should and nothing more. Flavor has a hint of vanilla in it that adds to the nutty body. Good but not great.

Rich golden brown color, aroma of dried fruit sprinkled in just a little brown sugar and baked. Flavor remarkably more balanced than I would guess from the sweet aroma, self-possessed hop underpinnings to balance the nutty toffee flavor.
