In all fairness to the fine folk at Brooklyn Brewery; this bottle was designated to be best
enjoyed on or before 11/05. I would love to try a fresh sample, but Iíve got to work with
what Iíve got. Splendid nose of dried fruit and flowers; however, it drops off quickly as
the brew breathes. The brew pours a clear garnet. The frothy bone head is mostly
diminishing with fair lace. It is the LOUDEST head Iíve ever encountered, sounding like
a bowl of rice crispies. Iím not making that up. This brew is very well balanced if not
terribly complex, and would make a very noble session offering. The light fizzy body is

(DíAgostinoís, NYC) Smooth beer. Slight wooden flavor with a coffee aftertaste. If it werenít for the coffee, Iíd really like it.

a sim rate: (bottled from DíAgostinoís NYC) Lovely piney, wooden aroma. Chocolate and cinnamon in there too. Flavour is full with licquorice, coffee and a hint of dark chocolate. Itís got a citrus kick right at the end and a fantastic full aftertaste. I loved it.

On draft at Just Sports with Stegosaurus. This beer poured dark, and had a decent aroma, good head, the taste was good, i thought it was a little watery, but it is a good beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with barely any head. Aroma of molasses, chocolate, and slight nuttiness. Not as strong as I would prefer, but this has a nice roasty flavor that complements the aforementioned malts. Nice floral hoppiness in the finish. Extremely drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
somewhat odd for a brown, yet somewhat appetizing...aroma and flavor are of roasted notes, with definite pale characteristics (including strong floral hops)...alcohol present...decent palate

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fine creamy head, medium to start turning into a thin but heavy coating that left stickly lace all over the glass. Kind of a sweet chocolate like aroma that is balanced by some roast. One of the better browns I have had with a lot of complexity. Caramel and roast malt flavour, finish gently bittering hops. Well done, flavourful and complex.

[Tap @ Sunset Grill 4/8/06] Looks great, smells kind of sweet and malty. Tastes great- complex malts, kind of woody tasting, but with just enough sweetness. Finishes with a nice light hop aroma. Excellent.

Pours a reddish brown amber with an average off white bubbly head that left some lacing. Aroma of caramel, a light woodyness, coffee, chocolate and some nuts. Flavor was a mix of the same. Some roastiness going on as well. Hops there but subtle. Not a favorite style of mine, but this was well done.
