Dacrza (245), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jan 2, 2009 Light black (!) body with thick brown two-finger head that softens nicely into the glass... malty presence undeniable... sugars tantalize while the hops balance nicely at the nose... smooth, almost perfectly "brown" in its presence, with the liquidity of a stout and the hop body of a pale ale--easily drinkable... sugary impressions early, with some chocolate, smoky something (?) and toffee to sweeten the deal... satisfying--especially on a snowday nightcap--with the smoothness of a Newcastle and a flavor that sets BBA a step above Sam Adams et al.... pivnizub (4951), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Dec 30, 2008 Bottle. Clear, chestnut-amber coloured, small beige head with a little lace. Fruity-chocolatey nose with subtle influences of toasted malt. Moderate bitter-sourish flavour, medium bodied. Todeon (314), Sweden Dec 11, 2008 Bottle. dark brown color. Taste is caramell, malt and som bready flavors. Some nutty notes in there aswell. TheBeerBaron (218), Florida, USA Dec 8, 2008 Cloudy dark brown color beige head that fades. Good lacing but quiet carbonation. An admirable look to this beer. Tangerine citrus smell and a malt presence. A complex and textured aroma thats very hard to describe. Sweet malt taste is foremost flavor along with nut. The palate is somewhat heavy and oily. A lack of bold hops leaves this ale unbalanced and inferior to english standard bearers. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Nov 30, 2008 pours light brown witha red tint. Aroma of an all malt with sweetness and a tinge of bitterness. Flavor is full, bitter, malty and a little nutty. Mouthfeel is runny mild. Finish is nutty. JCastner (102), New York, USA Nov 28, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a slight white head. Aroma is of brown sugar, butter, some slight grassiness, and bready roasted malt. Medium mouth-feel.
