COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

I’ve gotten some six packs of this maybe 3 or 4 times over the last couple of years and really liked it, but it didn’t always seem fresh. I got to try it for the first time on tap today. Pours a dark, deep brown with a slight tint of red when held up to the light. You can see the clarity of the beer as well, which can obviously be tough with a dark beer like this. It had a decent head of froth with a little bit of lacing. It smelled great, I tend to have a tougher time smelling the hops in brown ales, but no problem with this one, had a nice hoppy smell as well as the caramel malts. It tasted nice as well, starts with the malts and a nice hoppy aftertaste. Full bodied and full of flavor. My only knock on it is that I’ve never found it very drinkable for an ale, it almost drinks like a porter, but it makes up for it in everything else in my opinion.

Good sticky 1" head, light tan, on a translucent medium-brown liquid. Decent lacing. Aroma is classic, roasty, sweet, malty brown ale. Good hit of sweetness, straddling the line between chocolate and brown sugar (why choose?). Delicious burnt wood and dirt (campsite) on the finish, awesome. Pretty good lacing. Overall good brown ale, a bit overweight in sweet, though. Best part about this beer is that woodsy/smokey finish.

Bottle 355ml @ home
Pours clear dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of caramel, nuts, roasted malt and light hops. Taste is light sweet and bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Brooklyn Brown Ale. 35.5cl bottle at Håndverkerstuene. Very dark brown colour, bordering on black. Small head. Aroma is grain and fruits, apples and pears mostly. I had a fellow beergeek check and he noticed the same thing. Flavour is sweet. Notes of pears and apples again. Some hints of mocca perhaps.

I am having difficulties decide which is better, this or Newcastle Brown Ale. Very smooth taste.

Bottle 330ml. Great beer. Aromas of chocolate and caramel. Taste is sweet, with long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a fizzy head.

Bottle to glass mug. Pours a dark copper / brown with a clear body. Medium yellowish head, with good lacing. Linda light mouthfeel, and some sweet malty flavors with just a little bite.
