Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

One of the great examples of a brown ale. This beer has plenty of dark flavors and a medium body. In my mind a brown should be the gap between an amber ale and a stout. This beer falls right where it should.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with 2 cm of off-white head thats slowly diminishing. Aroma of malts, sugar, and nuts. Initial flavor malt and nuttiness. Flavor balances out and becomes hops based for a while. Medium body, light lacing, light carbonation, and limited alcohol presence. Overall, the best beer offered by Brooklyn, a great brown ale.

12oz bottle at my departmental picnic - thanks, John! Very solid, well-hopped brown beer. The body was clear, hints of ruby, appropriate carbonation and modest head. Very inviting nutty aroma wafts out, with additional hints of sweet candy. The body is nicely substantial, and again, the hopping that balances this out gives the brew a crispness that’s well suited to the flavors. Nice one.

On tap at The Yardhouse in Palm Beach. Nice brown pour with a very small head. Nutty, malty aroma is followed by a pretty damn decent flavor of malts, sweet nuts, caramel and maybe some vanilla. Nice carbonation and well balanced. Winner in a tough category!

My first Brooklyn, a huge suprise for me, pours near perfect with a thicker head , nice aroma, dark colour and sweet well balanced goodness. I’m quite impressed.

Bottle at Beer Bistro, Toronto, November, 2007. Brooklyn calls this a mix between dry north English brown ales and sweeter ones from south England. I enjoy the hop character in this, apparent right from the pour, brown with an aromatic, sweetness in the head and subtle hop character. Medium mouthfeel. I taste caramel with chocolate, sweetness, vanilla, then hop bitterness and licorice in the finish.

(USA) Pours a nice brown color with a dissipating tan head. Aroma is of hops, dark malts, and some chocolate. The taste has a toffee, malt, flavor with a hint of chocolate. The mouthfeel is kind of smoky with a bit of a dry finish. Would go very nice with a meal.
