Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Aroma: Light molasses, brown sugar, grainy, light alcohol, very light/earthy hops - maybe a little centennial/chinook? Appearance: Brilliant dark brown, off-white and persistent head of small bubbles and medium lacing Flavor: Dark biscuit/melanoidin flavor, light residual brown sugar sweetness, slight carbonic bite, light caramel and roast Mouthfeel: Medium to medium-heavy body, but not "chewy"... The caronation helps to lighten the residual sweetness. Overall: Fantastic brown ale. A great interpretation of the quintissential homebrew style, but not so roasty/coffee like many believe it should resemble...

(From old notes, draught at Painobaari on 2008-01-22) Quite small head. Very brown in colour. Hops and malts in nose. Hops in taste, too, and after the beer got warmer malts appeared. Rather balanced taste.

An old-time favorite, rated for the first time on 4/21/08. Bottle.

Appearance: Unassuming, dark-copper brown, very little to no head -- perhaps the fridge was too cold?

Aroma: fresh hops, grass, caramel, and milk chocolatem

Taste: Caramel, toasted malt, mild and pleasant hops, pear, bitter chocolate, and a very light sour bitterness at the very end.

Palate: almost on the cusp of being too "sticky" for my taste, but still on the side of good.

Overall: A great beer -- could be better? Perhaps this foray is revealing that this is a beer best served not too cold. A bit too syrupy on the finish, but otherwise a well-balanced brown ale. Try with homemade french onion soup!

12 oz bottle. Pours nice clean ruby brown with a small and quickly dissapearing head. Nose is nutty malt, taste is very similar. The hop profile adds to the uniqueness of this beer. A nice brown ale.

Draught@Painobaari, Helsinki, 02/2008. Deep brown color, low head. Nutty, hoppy aroma. The taste is well-balanced, with a nice, nutty finish. A good american brown ale.

It pours a brownish red with a tan, frothy rootbeer-like head. It has noticeable, delicate lacing. The aroma is of sweet malts and hops. Chocolate malts are the dominant flavor, followed by a clean wash of hops. It is well balanced and perfectly carbonated. I would serve this beer with smoked fish or barbecue.

From LIC, Aarhus Bottled I love American Brown Ales and this is one of the best: Nice mouthfeel and a great combination of crystal malt and aroma hops
