COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

From dmac via trade. Poured cola-brown with a short, off-white head and spots of lacing. The aroma was roasted malts, light caramel and thin chocolate. The flavor was roasted malts and caramel and trended towards sour on the finish. Thin body. A wimpy finish for an otherwise serviceable beer.

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with slight mahogany edges when held to a light source and a thin half finger tan head that quickly fades into a thin ring. Not much in the way of lacing. Toasted nutty malt aroma with subtle dark fruit notes and slight earthy hops. Slightly watered down body with hints of toasted malt, hazelnut, chocolate maltiness, a slightly roasted toasty presence with subtle hops and a slightly dry finish. Very well balanced and easy drinking session beer.

Tried a sample at Brewfest Tallahassee. A hint of roasted coffee but mainly sweet caramel and toffee.

12oz - Nose is somewhere between nuts and sawdust. Good color, not much head or carbonation. A little on the sweet side, with some roasted notes. A good representative of the style.

Pours clearish brown with a thin offwhite head, no lace. Smells light and nutty. Tastes nutty and sweet, slightly metallic. Thin body, good carbonation.

Pours with a nice ample head. Mildly sweet with a light hop hit. Decent brown ale but I enjoy Dogfish head’s hoppier version...

I was pretty surprised when I poured this out, for a brown ale this has the color and taste of a porter. I can definitely notice the coffee in this ale, but as a previous review suggested, this is lighter than it looks. I’m typically not a fan of Brown Ales, but I’ll definitely come back to this one.

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours out a nice somewhat clear light brown color with a fading white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, light chocolate and a note of bitterness. Taste is well balanced, sweet malt notes, light chocolate, and a little bitterness hanging in there also. Overall an enjoyable brown ale.
