Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Dec 14, 2007 Pours an amber-hued brown with a fizzy tan head that fades quick. Aroma of nuts, toffee, earthy english hops and light milk chocolate. Very sweet flavour with a metallic hoppy finish (iron). The front end is pleasantly sweet with coffee, caramel, nuts and smoke. The finish has those perfume-like hops that I find to be offensive. The aftertaste is nice though, with roasted malt becoming dominant. Brooklyn always seems to produce a beer with a nice texture, and this is no exception. A creamy, medium body and tingly carbonation lets you really absorb the flavours. A good brown ale that gets better as it warms. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Dec 14, 2007 12oz bottle-A light brown body with a small tan ring for a head and an aroma of roasted malt and a little nutty. A medium bodied brew with a malt, chocolate, hops, and a sweetness to it. I agree with some of the other reviews I think it is too sweet but a great tasting brown. naplesbeerfan (17), Naples, Florida, USA Dec 13, 2007 Very dark brown pour with frothy/creamy head. Very sweet malted flavor with a nutty taste. Very enjoyable. One of the best brown ales I’ve ever had. Only slight downside is it might be a tad too sweet. ChetLemmons (87), orlando, Florida, USA Dec 10, 2007 dark amber/brownish color, nice off white, frothy head. not a bad brown, but not the greatest either. gwpom (246), Akron, New York, USA Dec 10, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours brown (not amber) which is a good start. Thick cream colored head, nutty hoppy aroma. Hard to believe this has a higher ABV than the oatmeal stout I just had. Nice lacing, seriously complex first sip. Very nice. I’ve liked most everything I’ve tried from Brooklyn, and this is a very nice brown ale. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 6, 2007 Thanks to davehoward for the bottle!
Pours a dark brown color with ruby edges on the glass. Light tan fizzy head. Smell is toasty, semi roasty malt. Hint of chocolate and coffee round it out and a mild roastiness is present in the taste as will along with a slight sour bitterness. Very thin body I thought. Not bad, but just not impressive especially for what I was expecting. Walkowiak (21), Northville, Michigan, USA Dec 4, 2007 Bottle. Poured a deep brown with a hint of purple with a moderate, fine head. The aroma was subtle and sweet. It tasted sweet with a hint of molasses. The mouthfeel was light-medium. It was very drinkable and nice for a brown ale, a style that I don’t usually drink. dsm (109), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Dec 3, 2007 Draft from Brooklyn Brewery. A thin brown ale, sweet but not overly so, lots of nuts and malt, and some coffee. A good brown ale.
