Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Bottle. Absolutely gorgeous color. Looks ark brown until held up to the light revealing a deep amber. Hazy body, thin brown head leaves nice lacing. Nutty aroma, some slightly acidic dark chocolate notes. Very roasty flavor profile, mild chocolate bordering on lightly roasted coffee beans. Full-bodied. Easily one of the best brown ales I’ve head.

A malty, dark and hoppy brew, smooth on the palate, that goes well with a steak and potatoes, Brooklyn Brown Ale has definite presence, with strong hints of chocolate and coffee. A good but not overwhelming head and light carbonation mark this beer.

This is sits nicely on the tongue. A solid brown ale, nice hoppiness (not too over the top) and great maltiness. Carmel hints.

Bottle. Pours dark golden brown with a solid off-white head that left nice head. Hints of coffe caramel and hops especially as it warms. Lightly carbonated and very drinkable.

Tasted 2007-11-14. Fresh bottle. Pour dark brown with big, beautiful beige / light brown head. Aroma of fresh hops and caramel. Spot on! The flavour on the other hand is a bit off IMHO. I get coffee, hops, malts and caramel, but it all seems covered up in what can best be described as rusty water. It gets less annoying for each sip, but it’s there! Drinkable, and even good, but not great!

Ordered at Croxley’s Ale House in Franklin Square, NY. Appearance: poured a dark brown color with an off-white to tan colored head about 1/2 a finger thick that was retained. Mild lacing left on pint glass throughout. Smell: caramel sweetness with a hint of nuttiness - very pleasant. Taste/Mouthfeel: a nice balance of pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts gives it a sweet caramel flavor on the tongue followed by a nutty, slightly bitter taste at the back of the mouth. According to the description from Brooklyn Brewery, this beer is more heavily hopped than its British forbears. However, the hops are not overwhelming but give the beer a balanced flavor. Medium body with light-to-medium carbonation. Drinkability: I was pleasantly surprised with this beer. Many of the brown ales that I’ve previously tasted didn’t meet my expectations. However, this is definitely a good tasting, full-flavored American Brown Ale! I can definitely enjoy a few pints of this beer on a cool autumn evening!

Fairly large beige colored head atop a deep brown body. Woodsy, roasted malt aroma, some caramel, with a whiff of walnut. Modestly sweet malt taste, dry, respectably hopped. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Short lived, slightly metallic finish.
