Nice version on tap at Magoos. Some malt odor and dark Amber in color, with no head but a little lacing. Sweet but not excessive, fruits and lots of nuts and malt. A little oily. Finishes slightly sweet.

Bottle: Cocoa, toffee, malt, nuts, caramel and hops which dominate the flavor a bit too much, very nice beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 rampmaster (643) - Alden, New York, USA - JUL 20, 2009
Presentation: It was poured from brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. On the label there is a best before date.
Appearance: The body has a dark mahogany color with a light tan head on top. The head quickly fades down to just a ring on bubbles around the edge of the glass. The lacing is mostly slick and slides down the glass with just a little bit sticking to the glass.
Smell: The aroma sweet with hints of roasted and toasted malt.
Taste/Mouth Feel: Up front the flavor has a nice sweet bready malt with hints of roasted barley, caramel and toffee. The hop flavor is mellow but adds very good balance to the finish. It has a big round and smooth texture with soft carbonation and a solid medium to full body.
Notes: Over all this is one very tasty brown Ale.

12 oz bottle. Pours mahogany with long lasting off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, bread and brown sugar. Light to medium body. Flavor of earthy hops that are balanced by sweet fruity malt. Some coffee and citrusy notes are in the background. Finish is long well balanced and pleasant. One of my favorite browns.

bottle at Crowbar in Ybor City in Tampa. aroma is nutty and citrusy. flavor is somewhat dark chocolate bittery with roasted nuts, and for some reason a little bit of bitter citrus rind on the palette. pretty good, but there are better browns out there.

Big thanks to JoeMcPhee. Dark mahogany-brown pour, moderate beige head. Aroma of fruity malts, leaning towards cherries. Flavor somewhere between brown ale and porter, decided chocolate malt presence, just a little bit nutty, something of a sour cherry presence. Hops are there, aromatic, bitter, but secondary to the malts, decided orange zest bite. A bit of cinnamon spiciness throughout. Nicely harmonized in all its parts.

Not a huge fan of brown ales, but this one was pretty good. Very smooth. Dark tan pour with a hazel colored head.
