Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Aroma: fresh, hoppy, bitter, seville orange, chocolate malt, fruity, rich.
Appearance: deep raisin brown, foggy with beige head that sets to leave a thin blanket...
Flavour: bittersweet, full-bodied malt, some sourishness, not exceptionally deep but a nice spectrum.
Palate: nice... dry, almost yeasty.

Pours a mildly hazy brown with an off white head. The aroma has a little nutty roastiness, some malt presence, maybe a little dark fruit. Pretty light bodied, with very mild flavor. A little bit roasty and nutty as well, but the flavor is pretty lacking here. Definitely could use a little more body too. A little bit sweet, maybe some mild cinnamon notes or brown sugar. Overall, pretty drinkable, but about as unexciting as it gets.

I can go either way with brown’s- like ’em or hate ’em, no in betweens. This one- I LIKED,ALOT! Nice nutty malty aroma, good dark amber/ brown color. Good tan head. Mouthfeel is great for a brown. It has some density, not like some weak brewed versions of brown’s i’ve had. Most importantly, the flavor was really good. Substantial taste, nutty and earthy, coyingly sweet caramel flavor. Good feel and flavor of hops which at times is non-existent in brown ales. Carbonation is just right. If you have a hard time finding a brown you like, I suggest you try this one."

Bottle, bb Aug 07. Dark brown with a small lasting head. Aroma is spicy molasses. Flavor is chocolate, spicy raisins, marshmallow, molasses. Has a nice bitter herb and slight coffee finish to counterbalance all the great malt flavors. Palate is slightly dry and medium-bodied. Excellent brown.

The style I will never understand: brown. The wrong taste of chocolate. The wrong taste of malt. Nothing about brown every works, even for Brooklyn.

12 oz bottle: Nice nutty almost smokey aroma, with the scent of chocolate and caramelized malts coming to the forefront. Appearance is a murky brownish black with wonderful head retention it just sticks up there with a foamy off white head. Taste is the maltiness comes through, almost a candy like taste with some chocolate mixed in there. Not too sweet at all. Wonderfully carbonated I really like this brown ale it’s solid in my opinion!

Nice aroma of chocolate and... alcohol? Nutty and smooth malts. Nice flavours, but could do with a bit more mouthfeel.

Brown ale with a ok cara and choco malt aroma. The flavour is slightly hoppy with caramel malt and low bitterness. Fairly uninteresting...
