Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Draft...extremely watery and bland. Some malt flavor. Perhaps it was the tap but this left a lot to be desired. My least favorite of Brooklyn thus far.

Not a bad brown. Full bodied and smooth, but there is something lacking in the finish (maybe too smooth?).

draft at clark street a few nights ago. dark brown but enough translucence to see light around edges. so, not very dark. smells like water and some beer. a little brown ale in there i guess. very subdued. some chocolate and nuttiness in taste, but more surprising was some underlying sourness. this is pretty far from the GI brown ales i’ve always considered the most generic. is something wrong? not bad though, i kinda enjoy it. my friend later told me there is something funky about this beer usually.

Bottle. Has a great crisp brown quality with amber hues and a moderate off white head. The aroma is noticeable right away - sweet fruit punch mixes with weaker coffee malts and nuts for a good blend, some grass funkiness later. Flavor is robust with a good complex mix - starts sweet with cherry notes followed by the arrival of coffee malts and a moderate bitter finish with caramel flavor hanging around also. Good taste and easy feel makes it quite refreshing.

Very good brown ale. Dark and rusty, with a good light brown head. Nose is very chocolaty, some roasted oats in there as well. Taste some chocolate, slight coffee, very nutty. A bit sweet for the style (and the season, my fault!), but enjoyable nonetheless.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Pours deep dark brown. Heavy malts, chocolate, nutty, sweet. good brown ale

Poured from a bottle. Will say that the bottle said best by January 2007 and I had it in June 2007, however, still a very good beer. Poured dark brown with a thin white head. Had a malty, nutty smell. Tasted of biscuity-malt. Also had hints of chocolate, nuts and caramel. If this bottle is past its prime, I would love to have one that is not.

The aroma has caramel, biscuits, hops, yeast, and chocolate. The appearance is red/brown with a foamy head. The flavor is a little underwhelming, it’s not bad but the bitterness dominates the roasted sweet caramel goodness that the style needs. The palate is smooth. Overall a nice beer.
