VVilliam (50), USA May 7, 2007 Bottled. Pours a dark brown with large head. Relatively light smell of malt and chocolate. Has a good hop taste with coffee and malt, but has a watery finish that is dissappointing. Overall a drinkable brown ale, but not very satisfying for this sytle. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden May 6, 2007 (Bottle) Dark reddish brown colour with big, frothy, lasting pale brown head. Malty nose with notes of chocolate, caramel, wort, dark fruit, brown sugar and citrussy hops. Roasted. Malty taste with citrussy notes of Seville orange and mandarin mingling with dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee and wort. Mainly dry. The hops in the aroma tend to be overshadowed by caramel and malt in the taste. One of the more tasty brown ales I’ve tried. stison42 (318), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Apr 29, 2007 Brown. Nice aroma that I couldn’t describe besides it was fresh. Crisp, clean taste, as I find with all Brooklyn brews. More hoppy than malty. Solid but nothing great. thebeertourist (2751), Oslo, Norway Apr 28, 2007 Bottle. Brown colour as expected, big haki head. Caramel and strong citrussy hops nose in good balance. Caramel and some fruity flavours, but nearly as much as promised by the aroma. Texture is also a bit watery. Starting fine, but not delivering. dunkelbitte (20), New Jersey, USA Apr 28, 2007 Bottle/tap. The malst is aromatic and sweet. It has a bit of a hoppy bite, but it’s balanced by the malt. Not a whole lot going on, but a very nice beer. metsbcd (82), Connecticut, USA Apr 27, 2007 For the style, a very bland and watery beer. Don’t get me wrong, it has some taste and is satisfying, but overall there isn’t all that much that stands out. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 27, 2007 Good brown, dark color, toasty malt with strong hops. Odd in a brown to have such a bold hop flavor. pet3rman (206), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2007 Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose of Malt and roast. Nice body. Smooth for an ale. Very good overall.
