3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 superspak (1464) - Michigan, USA - DEC 5, 201212 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before March 2013. Pours crystal clear reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, biscuit, toasted malt, roast, light coffee, toffee, herbal, and light dark fruits. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of chocolate, caramel, biscuit, toasted malt, nuttiness, toffee, roast, light coffee, and light herbal spiciness. Slight herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, biscuit, toffee, toast, nuttiness, and light herbal on the finish for a bit. Very nice flavor balance, complexity, and robustness; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with pretty much zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice brown ale! Nicely robust and full of balanced flavors; and very smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this one.

355ml bottle. Clear brown body with a beige medium head. Nice bitter and malty aroma with some syrup notes. A bit too much yeast in the flavor though.

Amberbruin, nevelig. Medium schuim zakt in. Gebrand mout, citrus, hop. Lijkt tussen bok en Ipa in te zitten. Bitterzoet, licht zuur. Levendig en heel zacht. Iets te weinig body, beetje waterig.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 trollcat (11) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 8, 2013
A very good brown ale that is for a change actually brown. Dips into a bit of stout territory somewhat but in a quite complementary enjoyable way. If you’re looking for a solid brown ale, give it a try.

355ml Bottle from Peckham’s, Glasgow (£2.17):
Hoppy at the start but the anticipated, earthy malts aroma wasn’t far behind. There is some caramel and a sweet smelling, brown sugar like aroma that follows this, along with some toasted malts. The smell is quite a rich one and there is evidence of some chocolate towards the end.
Chestnut brown, a half centimetre bubbly, tan head that holds well. Minor lacing on the sides.
Some sweetness and a good helping of malts coming through along with some earthy, toasted flavours and a hint of hops. There is some coffee here as well though and some of the chocolate from the nose too.
Medium bodied and quite well carbonated with a rich, creamy mouthfeel that is very smooth and goes down well.
Went down very easily and I would say that, along with mouthfeel were the beers biggest selling points. A beautiful, creamy and well carbonated feel with some hint earthy caramel and toasted malts coming through in both the taste and smell.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 VictorSA (50) - NORWAY - APR 28, 2013
På ølsmaking med Gareth Oliver. Nesten sort med kremfarvet skum. Balansert, lett ristet aroma av kaffe, sjokolade og humle. Smaker også litt av lakris. Middels søt og bitter. God ristet ettersmak. (Den Gode Nabo, 28.04.13)
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 kramer (3873) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 24, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear light brown body with a one finger fizzy beige head that had pretty decent retention. The nose is showing a bit of a band-aid like phenolic note, it’s pretty light, but it’s still a bit worrisome. Otherwise, there’s a little light chocolate malt and slightly husky maltiness over a bit of light hops. The flavor is rather watery and has more of that phenolic flavor that was hinted at in the nose than I care for. It covers up a lot of the maltiness and distracts from the light bitterness as well. Lighter bodied, rather thin and watery, lots of fizzy carbonation. I’m pretty shocked that this beer is this bad. I normally expect Brooklyn beers to be of much higher quality.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Scotlandgee (1) - - APR 18, 2013 does not count
Appearance: clear brown, nice head, Aroma: nutty, roasted nose that follows through on the palate with a clean citrus that balances the beer very well. Overall a really sessionable brown ale.
