COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

One of the great examples of a brown ale. This beer has plenty of dark flavors and a medium body. In my mind a brown should be the gap between an amber ale and a stout. This beer falls right where it should.

Als je het uit schenkt krijg je bijna geen schuim. De geur is wel lekker. De smaak valt best mee. Geen top bier, maar het valt goed mee

Dark brown pour with thin off white head. Smells of toffee and moderately strong alcohol. Taste is smoky and feel is smooth but not light in mouth and has a mildly bitter finish. Just okay, drinkable but won't buy again

Transfer from BA review on 10-7-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a mahogany-brown colored brew with a two finger cream colored head. The head fades fast to a medium cap that persists. Once the cap fades rather slowly a light level of lacing is left on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a roasted malt smell. Mixed with these are notes of chocolate and a coffee aroma. Some sweet caramel joins the darker aromas and with a light bitter herbal aroma rounds out the smell. Taste – A roasted malt and chocolate flavor greet the tongue. Some light coffee flavors are present as well but are gone rather fast as some molasses sweetness more toward the middle of the taste comes to fruition. While the taste sweetness in the middle, it ends up bittering more toward the end as some of the bitter herbal hop flavors detected in the nose come to the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the average side in terms of creaminess with a carbonation level that was a little bit on the higher side. Not the best for the roasted and darker flavors, and may have been better suited with a creamier and chewier body. Overall – I am not really a huge fan. The flavors never really meld well and the transitions are quite abrupt.

Aroma: Malt: Medium-high dark chocolate, dark fruits, plums. Hops: low earthy, Appearance: Clear brown body. Medium tan head. Good retention. Flavour: Malt: Bitter, dark chocolate, lingering cocoa, dry finish, Hops: None. Medium-high bitterness. Medium sweetness. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Crisp, dry finish. Overall: Nice brown ale, but can do with a bit more body and less carbonation. 355 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 10C. American Brown Ale
