Chocolatey-fruity aroma with caramely malt. Dark-fruity, nutty-hoppy flavor with some metallic-alcoholy, lagery hints, and some ashy roastiness. Medium-bodied, quite carbonated palate. A brown ale somewhat in the style of a Belgian Oud Bruin. Not much hops here.
(Bottled@HBF 2005, was 7-4-8-4-14=3.7) Dark amber color with a medium, lacy head. Aromatic-hoppy, nutty and slightly alcoholic aroma. Smoothly malty, nicely hopped flavor. Medium-bodied, slicky, bitter and slightly alcoholic palate. A pleasantly smooth, yet bitter and aromatic brew. Could hide the ABV better, though. Braudog (3789), Dayton, Ohio, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 18, 2002 Probably the best brown ale I’ve had yet, although I still need to try boyne river. Awesome appearance of dark brown and nice tan head which lasts and sticks the the sides of the glass. Extremely smooth and goes down so easy. Not highly hopped and not too sweet. You have to get this fresh!- I have had this when it was a couple months past the sell- by date and it wasnt good at all- kinda had a metallic taste. But when fresh- it is smooth and easy to drink. Im going to have another right now.
