This is a great brown ale. The body is thick with a nice dark color, and a nice lasting head. The aroma and flavor is all malt, and has a strong nuttiness to it. There is also some sweetness from chocolate. The aftertaste is strong and lasting with a nutty flavor. A very good November beer.

Oct 5, 2008 Deep brown color with a slightly off-white head. Strong malty aroma with hints of caramel and toffee. Flavor is very similar to coffee ice cream. Too much in my opinion. Not very drinkable.

Oct 4, 2008 Mahogany red color with a nice tan head. Quite sweet malty aroma with burnt sugar and chocolate. Slightly roasted malt flavor with nutty chocolate hints. Smooth finish with a hint of coffe and short aftertaste. Very drinkable with a light mouthfeel.

Oct 4, 2008 Poured a dark mahogany brown into a pint glass with a finger of head that dissipated into some decent lacing. Aroma was nutty and also had some nice roasted malt scent. Taste was malty and nutty with some chocolate and coffee overtones. A nice amount of hops (more than something like a Newcastle for comparison’s sake) finished an excellent, drinkable brew.

Oct 3, 2008 On tap. Pours a very dark brown with a frothy, light brown head. Aroma is a bit hoppy with some nuts and caramel. Taste is nutty and very malte with some banana esters and coffee. Not very full bodied at all, water like mouthfeel, light carbonation.
