Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

Great color and pour. Taste a bit too citrus or hoppy for a brown malt. A confusing flavor, metal, bitter... yecct

Bottle. The label has "strong beer" on it. Since when is 5.6% considered to be strong? By whom? Anyway, the beer pours a dark mahogany body with a medium beige head. Aroma has nutty roast with some cocoa. Taste has nutty roast with some minerals/iron unfolding in the finish. Nice roast. Finish has a firm hoppiness. Quite drinkable but occasionally feels somewhat industrial.

355 ml bottle from Koht (€ 2.25). Dark brown colour, head light creamy and brief. Nose is sweetish raw herbal hops and caramel. Taste is sweet of chocolate and strawberries, burnt caramel, roasted malts and kind of sourish with mild bitterness from the raw hops. Body medium, carbonation quite prickly. Finish kind of metallic and dry. Not enjoying this.

330ml bottle. Clear brown color. Small size, yellow head, stays. Citric hops, caramel, faint metallic notes in aroma. Cold coffee beans, mild hops, roast, dusty taste. Carbonation is bit too high. Caramel roast in aftertaste.

Deep brown pour with thin off white head. Toffee, malty, slightly hoppy aromas. Taste is similar, toffee, a little citrus bitterness. Not spectacular but very easy to drink

Shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Brown beer, tan head. Nose is toasty malt, roast and caramel hints. Malty-roasty flavor with a tinge of caramel sweetness. Simple, not remarkable, but very drinkable and fairly pleasant.

Pint pour, dark brown with light khaki head. Nose is roasted malt and smooth caramel. Flavor is mostly caramel with some biscuit malt. Smooth easy drinking and definitely enjoyable. Not a huge hop presence but it’s definitely there, some greenness without being overly bitter.

12oz bottle in snifter. Pitch black. Dark red in a bright light. Aroma is sweet, hoppy, fruity, sour. Taste is very nutty, fruity, fizzy, medium dry. Citrusy in an exotic way. Unique. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
